I think your Thread is just great.I'am a smooker who is out-lawed everywere!!!!!.....Well, don't move to Maine then. No smoking in restaurants, bars, taverns, sports inns, bowling alleys.......you name it.
And Maine lawmakers have the nerve to want to bump the cigarette taxes up another dollar to $3.00 on a pack!
Outrageous.
Aren't smokers sick of this yet?????

"I have military men come in here, they're just back from Iraq. If anyone, they have the right to smoke, you know," Seamus says.
He wouldn't stop them, even if he could. I like this guy, already...
Has America really come to this? The 21st-century version of the 18th Amendment?

You can't smoke say the liberals.
You can't eat transfat say the liberals.
You can't listen to your IPOD say the liberals.
You can't kill murderers say the liberals.
You can kill your unborn child say the liberals.
You can have sex with someone of your own gender say the liberals.
And then liberals wonder why people all over the world hate us.

I finally quit smoking last month after 30+ years. Now I have a nasty Glue habit, but I feel better about not damaging the environment. Well, not glue, but Skoal and Copenhagen is always stuck in my teeth now.

I think your Thread is just great.I'am a smooker who is out-lawed everywere!!!!!.....In California, as we speak, the legislature smoking nazis is debating banning smoking at all public beaches and parks, with a fine of $200...
How this can be construed as legitimate is beyond me. Smokers' taxes maintain parks and beaches, and I challenge any serious medical expert or scientist to prove that outdoor smoke of that kind is even remotely detrimental to the public health.
Catering to neurotics is not the same thing as public health. They have the vapors upon seeing a plastic cigarette.
OK, I can see the $200 fine for littering (but not just cigarettes!), but the law as presented is unconstitutional.

In our town in central IN got smoking banned in public places....including the VFW Club, later the city council wisely gave them a pass....this whole thing was started by someone that moved here from CA.....go figure
I am a none smoker but I believe in property owner rights over my feelings about smoking...I let the old hippie know how I stood on this issue, she quit talking to me...oh well

You think its bad in Philadelphia? Where I live you can't use any tobacco in a public place plus its a dry county. Our public officals are wondering why people are moving away. The population has been going down for the past 5 years.

Shouldn't Philly be worried about their homicide rate? Were the shooters smokers?
Were they smoking when they committed the crime?

"Despite the smoking ban - because of it, actually - Philadelphia now has "smoke-easies,"
Same situation here in Las Vegas. I do some commercial real estate and have been following the situation since the law passed in November, a lot of places are ignoring the law rather than go out of business.

The owner is sitting at the bar chewing nicotine gum. He's a former smoker. Also a former cop.Ah, but the writer has identified him to the Smoking Police. How many bar owners are former cop, former smokers in Philly?
