The latest USA Today/Gallup poll, conducted Friday through Sunday, on the presidential race is out, and it's a humdinger. It's hard to say what the headline even is. Here are a few tries, though:

* Romney's support drops to within the margin of error of not existing (that's 3% support in a poll where the margin of error is 3%).

* Giuliani's support drops 13 percentage points since the last USA Today/ Gallup poll, March 2-4 (that's gotta hurt).

* Fred Thompson (not running, by the way) is now the No. 3 in the GOP field, at 12%.

No. Genocide is in a class by itself, for the reasons I stated.

I agree. However, since Condi doesn't want to run, I'm looking for a Thompson/Gingrich ticket. (I can hope...)

Giuliani's approach to the economy would wreck it.

Unless, we can get Narses to be Fred's campaign manager, perhaps. :)

That's my fear, Torie. The narses types will start hawking for Fred.

Fred is a uniter.

I'd like to see the Rudy voters with big smiles :) on their faces happily coming over to Fred the uniter.

We don't need no stinkin' spam.

There are, however, at least historically, some genocidal aspects of the abortion industry/movement.

"Rudy voters" are social liberals.

This Rudy supporter likes Fred. Fred should run. He will put Rudy to the test, and may the best man win. Both I think would make good presidents, and both have a reasonable chance of winning the General, although it is early.

Rudy handled the economy well in NYC. I don't think that is Rudy's problem.

and only 19 points behind the guy that has been running non-stop for the past 4 years.

Only 19 points. My goodness, that IS impressive. You have a right to be very proud indeed.

I played Tiger Woods in golf once and he beat me by 19 strokes. But I told him my handicap was 20 so therefore I won. So I do understand how it works.

"Rudy voters" are social liberals.

Some are and some aren't. Even Rudy isn't all social lib.

That said, I have full confidence that most Rudy supports will be voting for Fred in November of '08.

On every major issue, he is a solidly conservative and extraordinarily adept executive, but because he backs abortion and some form of gun control,

In fact, he is not solidly conservative on every major issue. There are only one or two issues he could be called "solidly conservative" about. And a couple where he could be called a "big government" conservative.

On several issues he's an authoritarian conservative. On several important issues (immigration for example) he's a moderate.

On most other issues he's moderate to liberal. Government sanction of gay partnerships, which also means enforced gay adoption, abortion pretty much on demand, suing gun manufacturers for illegal use of their product.

And what do we get for it? A man who claims he is "strong on terror" when he has done nothing to stop terrorism, and his only claim to fame is how well he handled it after the terrorists hit his city for the 2nd time and took out his command center that he put in the wrong place.

When my basement flooded, my wife gave me great marks for handling the situation with skill and speed. However, I lost points because it was all my fault it flooded to begin with. The point being, millions of us have the ability to react well under pressure.

A real leader is one who reacts well before there is a need to be under pressure. Like Bush calling for New Orleans to be evacuated 2 days before the storm hit, knowing that if he was wrong he'd be blamed for billions of dollars of lost wages and other issues related to the evacuation, with NO CHANCE of getting credit if he was right.

In what odd universe does a NYC lawyer, three times married, who dresses in drag, sues gun manufacturers, supports the radical 'stonewall vets', praises NARAL and Mario Cuomo and compares himself to Clinton represent a LANDSLIDE?

Bet that one leaves a bruise.

Sadly you find infanticide to be somehow different from the genocide that it is. Nonetheless, the slaughter of the innocent, whether because they are Jews or simply unwanted babies is morally the same, no matter your offense.

if Thompson would consider being Rudy's VP, he'd lose my vote. Not that he has my vote (I'm still undecided, but I want Thompson in the race if for no other reason than to end the "inevitability" of Rudy and show that the nation is ready to elect a real conservative.

If we elect Rudy, we'll be a generation before we get a shot at a conservative anywhere. It took 40 years to get us to the place where we could get a nominally conservative congress elected in 1994.

Over characterizing Rudy voters would be errant. In any event, I don't think most GOP "social liberals," however few we may be relatively speaking, have a problem with Fred. I certainly don't. If Fred launches a culture war, maybe I will have to reassess, but I don't see that happening. Fred has his head in the right place, is my gut feeling, and has good judgment. Ditto for Rudy. I like them both, and both are charismatic, and can sell themselves I think effectively. Both are likeable personalities.
