This is a good development.
The quicker the Dims pass their surrender bill and Bush vetoes it the quicker we get a clean supplemental funding bill through Congress.

Stop being an idiot.
McConnell is making the right decision. He knows it will be vetoed and the Democrats don't have a prayer to override it.

If you read the article and the context behind it you'll see this isn't the case at all.

Have no fear! President Bush has his veto pen stored somewhere. In a glass case, marked, "In case of emergency". By glass, I mean bulletproof glass. And by somewhere, I mean in a government warehouse, next to the Ark of the Covenant.
But I have no doubt that he'll veto this mercilessly, if it gets to his desk. None at all. No sir, no doubt.

A solid majority of Americans want their representatives in Congress to support legislation calling for a withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq by August 2008. Nearly six in 10 want their members of Congress to support such a bill...Gosh, really? Then I suppose the Congress ought to be 60% Democrat, then shouldn't it? But guess what, asswipe "journalist"? It isn't. Ergo, you're full of crap.

I hope McConnell gets this bill to President Bush in record time. The sooner he vetoes it the better.

Actually, this is a pretty good play for the Repubs. Let the Defeatocrats go
on record to surrender, including Hillary and Obama. What a way to make them make a stand.
Even if ALL the Defeatocrats vote 'yes' it is not Veto-proof. It also will expose ALL the RINO's.

McConnell is pretty much batting 1,000.
Move it along, veto it, get the real bill passed and there will be no interruption in the funding for the troops.

McConnell wants the bill vetoed ASAP so congress can send the president a clean bill with no timetable. He's doing the right thing. From reading the article though it's at least a possibility the bill won't get through the Senate as written. Lieberman and Prior won't vote for it so it depends on how many Northeastern liberal RINO Republican Senators will vote for it.

I hope your right, but I think the message the GOP got out of 06' was "it's time to turn our balls in".
