Former AZ Gov. Fife Symington has told a UFO investigator making a documentary that he always believed that the mysterious "Phoenix lights," which appeared in a V shape in the sky on March 13, 1997, were extraterrestrial. Symington, a former Air Force captain, told the Arizona Daily Star, "I'm a pilot and I know just about every machine that flies. It was bigger than anything that I've ever seen. It remains a great mystery. Other people saw it, responsible people. I don't know why people would ridicule it."
The Associated Press reports:
Symington told CNN the craft he saw ... was "enormous. It just felt otherworldly. In your gut, you could just tell it was otherworldly." ...
Tucson astronomer and retired Air Force pilot James McGaha said he investigated two sightings over Phoenix that March night and traced both to A-10 aircraft flying in formation at high altitude.
"It was clearly aircraft in formation, flying at two different times and then dropping flares and it's clear to any rational person that's what it was," McGaha said.
McGaha said Symington "is not a trained observer and what he feels in his gut doesn't make any difference."
Symington's former chief of staff, Jay Heiler, says his former boss is a "Trekkie" who believes earthlings will travel to distant solar systems at above the speed of light "in our lifetimes."
The Stiletto has had the pleasure of sampling both desserts, and can report that they are out of this world.

Well, not being a big fan of UFO theories, but find them interesting just the same, I believe these UFO's to be secret jaunts by our or some other government. Of course, I could be wrong--I was once (smile). Mxxx
The truth isn't out there, the truth is in here.
Whenever I'm in doubt about these kinds of reports, I take comfort in the attitudes of most of my MIT astronautical engineering professors, which boiled down to: "Anything that cannot be explained by current theoretical understandings of physical phenomena, or better yet - modeled by some horrendous-looking empirically-derived equation - does not exist. Now, let's get back to last week's problem set, shall we?"
LOL. Chef Fife.
I'm not a believer (as in BELIEVER) in UFO's, either, but I do enjoy watching the shows about them and about Area 51, crop circles, etc. The only problem is, now I've watched them all so many times, and it's always the same few pieces of info. I'm still waiting for something new...
Yup.
If there were something new then that would either mean that there's something to all this, or a new generation of BS artists is outdoing their elders.
They ARE interesting for sure but I agree with you. Let's see something really new...
