He would have been shellacked by Hillary in NY. Perhaps not 70-30, but at least 55-45. He didn't want to be embarrassed, as it would have ruined any chance he had at the '08 election.

Good answer!

So, why the hell should we nominate him for the presidency?

A number of the marriages of my direct ancestors were first cousins. Second cousins sounds like quite a distance to me. But having three marriages is a problem.

Dear noname07718,

"All I’m saying in most of the issues that every Rudy Basher offers to forward as a reason for his unsuitability are lame and not relevant. A more compelling argument would to promote your choice and not denigrate an opposing candidate. You should not have to advance the advocacy on the backs of an opponent. Your choice should be able to stand on his/her own merits to show their qualifications and electability.

"Please don’t try to emulate the democrat party tactics of dragging people to make a weak candidate look better."

These remarks are especially ironic in light of the ignorant anti-Catholic bigotry that precedes them.

* chuckle *

Unless we're now going to give Mr. Clinton a retroactive pass for his poor one, character is an issue concerning those for whom we might vote for president.

Lucky they had no children, because the Church would not have given him an annulment.

Don't kid yourself. The "Church" will give anyone an annulment if they have enough money for a LARGE donation. They will even have a Bishop perform your next wedding. I have a relative that the entire family believes he had his 3rd wife murdered. The "gentleman" in question had 4 children from 3 marriages. That did not stop the "Church" from granting him an annulment from wife one and two and sending a Bishop to preside over an elaborate wedding to wife number 4. I know, I was related to wife number 3 that was murdered.

I suppose that would be the case. I knew someone in California who was notified by the Church that his family had to pay a huge sum of money to keep his recently deceased brother out of Purgatory. He told the local priest, "He's dead, I'm not paying, he's already in Hell!"

No. I'm a Southerner. My ancestors lived in rural areas and didn't get out to see that many people, so they married cousins who were the people they knew. I don't consider it unusual or weird at all. If any Southerner does, then they shouldn't research genealogy. And, just for the record, we are not mentally or physically deficient. Plus we tend to have excellent health and live long lives.

I realize that. But I like to take every opportunity to explain about "cousin marriage" myths.

I just learned last night that a friend who is suffering from a kidney failure is going to receive a kidney from his WIFE, who turned out to be a perfect match. I have never heard of this before. I guess I need to back and refresh my Rh-Factor and blood type education.

I have a theory about that. I've gotten to know more people on the internet who have discovered that they and their spouse share a common ancestor. I think they discover something that they like in that person which attracts them initially and it's something from the common ancestor. I have ancestors that carry my husband's surname, but I doubt very seriously if they're related. My ancestors seem to be mostly English and Protestant and his are German and Catholic. Maybe your friend and his wife are related way back. It really isn't as unusual as you think. I wish him well.

Pretty Lame Post. It was called Prostate cancer.

It didn't stop him from doing anything else. He ran NYC. He had a wife and a girlfriend. He went to all the fundraisers and baseball games. Everything but run against Hillary.

Giuliani said that the cancer is "at a very, very early stage of the disease."

http://psa-rising.com/upfront/giuliani-dx2000apr27.htm

I pray you never get it.

That's very kind of you to say.

I am a cancer survivor. On On October 18, 1990,I was diagnosed with CML (leukemia) and given a less than 50/50 chance of living.

I received a bone marrow transplant on November 26, 1991.

By the Grace of God,and the power of prayer, I survived.

So please forgive me if his cancer treatment doesn't seem all that hard to me. I had intensive radiation treatment that nearly killed me, and chemotherapy that left me vomiting green for 3 days.

I am currently undergoing some Chemo for a Cancer spot that disappeared 4 years ago. For some reason it decided to show up again after all of this time. I’ve had 4 past bouts with this little problem and bounced back each time. One time I had 45% of my liver taken out in a resection and I walked out of the hospital in 5 days.

I’m in stage 4 Colon Cancer. I am fortunate in that the lymph nodes are clean and all of my spots have been on the liver. I see this as a speed bump on life’s path. I will not play the helpless victim in this. I figure that you go after each occurrence with the confidence in your medical team and the outcome. Cancer in a lot of cases is mor of a Chronic than a fatal disease.

I congratulate you on your survival and I trust you are enjoying each and every day God has given and will continue to give you.

I wish you continued excellent health.

Tom

He may be able to win nation-wide where his brand of moderate politics would play better overall than in the extreme liberal bastion known as N.Y.

Funny, but true. I broke my back on the same day as I was diagnosed, October 18, in 1980, putting me out of the 82nd Airborne and into a wheelchair.

Since my transplant, I've been a Boy Scout leader (14 + years) a wheelchair athlete (see my profile page) , an NRA shooting competitor (ranked 10th nationally) and president of my son's high school ice hockey team (2 years). All from a wheelchair, and a cancer survivor to boot.

So I can't let Rudy use the cancer excuse. It doesn't fit my character.

I pray that you may be as blessed by our Lord as I have been. It sounds like you've had some hard days.

Keep fighting and my best wishes for continued good health.

But he could have backed her into a corner and forced her to commit to issues. Besides, why would we want to nominate someone who doesn't even have a chance at winning their own state.
