Ohio voters favor Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton over other Democratic presidential contenders, although her lead over Sen. Barack Obama has narrowed since January, according to a poll released Thursday.
The Quinnipiac University poll also found that former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani leads the Republican contenders among voters in Ohio, which tipped the 2004 election for President Bush. Giuliani is favored by 31 percent of Republicans, compared with 20 percent for Sen. John McCain, 8 percent for former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and 6 percent each for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and actor and former Sen. Fred Thompson.
On the Democrats' side, 32 percent picked Clinton, compared with 22 percent for Obama. A Quinnipiac poll almost two months ago showed Clinton with a 38 percent to 13 percent lead.
In a hypothetical matchup, Clinton was slightly ahead of Giuliani, 46 percent to 43 percent, about the margin of error. However, the survey showed that 41 percent of Ohio voters view Clinton unfavorably, while only 22 percent saw Giuliani in a negative light.
Clinton also held a slight edge over McCain, 46 percent to 42 percent, and a 51 percent to 32 percent lead over Romney.
Matchups of Giuliani and Obama and Giuliani and Edwards were within the margin of error. In other matchups, Obama led 45 percent to 37 percent over McCain and 51 percent to 26 percent over Romney. Edwards had a 45 percent to 37 percent edge over McCain and a 53 percent to 26 percent lead over Romney.

Ohio is a key "must win" state for Republicans.
Thompson will soon be in the race and will become the favorite to win the nomination and take on Hillary.
Would be nice to have Thompson in the race. I was going to comment about how nicely neutral the article was, aside from the obvious of highlighting the liberals. But then I got to the end, and there was the Bush bash. Nothing about Congress' numbers, of course...
"Rudy Don't Wear That Dress to Town"
You put on your pumps and rouge,
Then your store bought hair,
Hey maybe there's another gay,
parade out there somewhere.
It won't be long before your numbers,
will start coming down.
Oh Ruuu-dy,
don't go in drag to town.
They say that you can lead us,
in this crazy war we're in.
That you can beat Hillary,
and they just want to win
I know that constitution,
it won't ever slow you down
Oh Ruuu-dy,
don't go in drag to town.
It's hard to vote, for a man,
Who wants to take my guns.
Who has less in common,
with Reagan than Clin-ton
and I know that constitution,
it won't ever slow you down
Oh Ruuu-dy
don't go in drag to town.
He's leading now, cause I've heard,
the latest greatest polls.
Forget about his Kerek-ture,
just vote and hold your nose
Well I can't vote for Marylin,
I have to stand my ground.
Oh Ruuu-dy,
don't go in drag to town.
Oh Ruuu-dy,
Don't wear that dress to town.
Thompson was included in this poll, he got 6%.
I am praying you're right.. as always.
ROFL! Good one.
"Thompson was included in this poll, he got 6%."
Gee and he hasn't even announced he's running yet.
Thanks, Rudy folks don't like my songs though.
"Gee and he hasn't even announced he's running yet."
So people polled see his name on the list and say..."Gee, he hasn't announced yet, so I won't vote for him." Try again.
And therein lies the harsh truth ladies and gentlemen. The country is decidedly NOT conservative and the best we might get is Rudy over Hillary !!!
Ohio is going to be big trouble for the republicans in 2008, no matter who the nominee is.
Your kidding right? The rest of the crowd is making the tv shows, talk shows and doing everything they can with the organization they have. Thompson isn't even trying and he pulled 6%. Imagine if he had tried.
"Your kidding right?"
No, I'm not kidding.
I admit I'm biased towards Thompson, but objectively, a poll in March 2007 isn't really proof positive of anything. In Thompson's case, it shows he wouldn't jump in with no support, but that's about it. Certainly Rudy is doing very well, but we've still got time on the clock in the first quarter, so to speak. I mean, Kerry was behind in Iowa until about a week before the caucuses.
Giuliani's numbers have declined in Ohio since Quinnipiac released their last poll on March 7th. He was at 35% in that poll.
No apology necessary. I wish to God we as a nation were more conservative, but we're not.In spite of the GOP Revolution of 1994 thru 2006 America has been morphing evermore left whether we like it or not,and it's going to get increasingly harder to get REAL conservatives elected to any future political office !!!
Thompson would be a great addition, but he is too far behind in fundraising. He is inserting himself for another reason.
