Brilliant post MNJ. You could well be right, the Iranian people, those who are not hopelessly brainwashed, could easily be longing for freedom, just as the Iraqis were.

I don't know if sanctions will do the job. We should be doing everything we can, short of military action, to get regime change in Iran. Until that is done, we cannot win the WOT.

I definately agree with you and Johnnie.

At a time when the President and his party is on the ropes for failing to fight back against the democrats, the President could not be further weakened by fighting back hard. This is precisely how Harry Truman came back from the dead.

The consequences of not acting--same old, same old--are having terrible consequences for the West. When you keep doing the same thing over and over and it's not working, you gotta be insane to continue the same.

We really need to think through whether or not nhat now is the best timne to take out Iraq. The outcome of 2008 may not go our way, and therefore that ends the War on Terrorism with a loss for the West, if the Dems take complete control. Our window will soon be closing.

East means rain. Climb Mount Niitakayama!

Well, it is more than rumor that Maher smokes reefer, and the new reports out from the former backers of Marijuana use leave no doubt in anyone's mind why the Rats are so delusional, and crazy as loons with BDS, and other similar afflictions. The Party of "Reefer madness", that is the Rat way of life.

I would not rule out military action since my thinking is that overt force is something the terror types understand.

Thanks again, Anita. Your link to the Dixie Chics piece really provides more evidence of the cultural/political disconnect between Hollywood and the real world. All of your other links are outstanding, too.

The Iranians have been killing Americans for some time. They were involved in the bombing of the Marine Barracks in Lebanon and Khobar Towers.

There is a reason for the word Yet in the title but you have to read it first to learn why.

Unprovable assumption. The bombing conducted against the Serbs over Kosavo did NOT cause Serbs to rally to the Milosivic Govt.

I suspect it depends on what sort of bombing campaign you follow. For example, I suspect following the sort of targeting parameters the Israelis did in Lebanon (Bridges, Electrical Grids, residential neighborhoods) might have the effect you fear.

However, I suspect direct targeting the leadership cadres, the secret police HQs, the Revolutionary Guards etc while making every effort to avoid directly impacting the civilian infrastructure would have a vastly different impact, especially in a repressive authoritarian state like Iran.

I knew you would appreciate that. I am sure if the other freepers would think about it, they could come up with a lot more similarities between "Chuckles the clown" Schumer and strange Animals.

Sure did, and thanks for the ocrrection!

I have a new keyboard that's giving me fits. All the keys are milimeters off from the old one. I have to do a lot of corrections and even then miss a few.

I'll preview more carefully!

Really off topic, I know, but Freepers are the only ones I would trust with this question.

How many adult beverages should precede a hot wax treatment on my back?

Gee I am so sorry you find the concept of the President as Commander in Chief so difficult to comprehend. The President has utterly no legal need to consult Congress on this at all. Try reading Article 2 Section 2 of the US Constitution. The Dims cannot even get the votes for their stupid Iraq "non binding: Iraq resolution in the US Senate. You think they have the votes to cut off funding to active operations? Dream on.

You seem to be missing the Dem strategy. They are not cutting off funds for active operations. They are just adding some conditions to their use. The House supplemental bill approves the funding.

If you want to understand the Dem strategy, David Obey is explaining how it will work.
