Gee, where ever conservatives congregate and vote online, they choose a conservative over RINO Rudy. That's been overwhelming true here, at Sean Hannity's website and, now, at NewsMax.
It seems informed conservatives don't want a RINO as the GOP nominee.
An Internet poll sponsored by NewsMax.com reveals that an overwhelming number of Americans -- nearly 7 in 10 respondents -- favor former House Speaker Newt Gingrich as their presidential candidate in 2008.
The unscientific poll of nearly 90,000 people also shows that Gingrich would win handily in a GOP primary race against both Rudolph Giuliani and John McCain.
The results are surprising considering that Gingrich has not even announced that he would run for the White House. The popular conservative said he wont make a decision until the fall, although he has been raising money with his new organization, American Solutions for Winning the Future, possibly laying the groundwork for a presidential campaign.
NewsMax will provide the results of this poll to major media and share them with radio talk show hosts across the country.
Here are the poll questions and results:
1) What is your overall opinion of Newt Gingrich?
Favorable: 87 percent
Unfavorable: 10 percent
No Opinion: 3 percent
2) Is Newt Gingrich your candidate for president in 2008?
Yes: 68 percent
No: 32 percent
3) In the following field, who is your 2008 candidate?
John McCain: 2 percent
Condi Rice: 4 percent
Mike Huckabee: 2 percent
Mitt Romney: 6 percent
Rudy Giuliani: 12 percent
Tom Tancredo: 5 percent
Ron Paul: 2 percent
Newt Gingrich: 58 percent
Duncan Hunter: 1 percent
Other: 10 percent
4) In a Republican primary of Newt vs. Rudy Giuliani and John McCain, who would you vote for?
Rudy Giuliani: 17 percent
John McCain: 5 percent
Newt Gingrich: 78 percent
5) If the 2008 President race was between Newt Gingrich and Hillary Clinton, who would you vote for?
Newt Gingrich: 95 percent
Hillary Clinton: 5 percent
But a RINO is the only way a Republican can get into the Whitehouse. That's what "they" keep saying.
how long until someone blasts you for posting an online poll, even though the rudyphiles have posted online polls when they support his candidacy?
I'll say less than 10 posts.
FNC showed a poll about 2 weeks ago. It was posted on Fr, as I recall.
Newt's unfavorable rating among Republicans was 60-something percent.
I'm all for beating Rudy but I wish we could stop these polls that include people who aren't even in the race. They serve no purpose beyond splitting the votes even further.
Thompson beat Giuliana by a 5% greater amount than Newt if I remember correctly.
Don't you know....Rudy makes me sick.
- Rudy, and only Rudy, can beat Hillary
- Rudy, and ONLY Rudy, can win the War On Terror (what is a war 'on terror' anyway?)
- Rudy is not a RINO
- Rudy is really a conservative
- Rudy will not take our guns away
- Rudy arrested the Squeegee Men
- Rudy made bums stop peeing in Times Square
- Rudy made crime drop in New York (of course crime dropped all across the US then too, but don't dare mention that)
- Rudy threw Arafat out of New York
- Rudy told an Arab to shove his $10 million
- Rudy 'talks tough'.
- Rudy will appoint conservative Judges - or Justices.
- Rudy is really Pro Life.
- Rudy will not push the Gay agenda
- Rudy is a good family man. It was his wives who were always at fault.
- Rudy walks on water!
:-)
So an internet poll which shows a candidate who hasn't announced, hasn't had his record examined, and hasn't hired a single person to run his faux campaign is pretty meaningless.
Uhhh, Newt hasn't declared yet. Duncan Hunter HAS!
Could we please find a candidate who has not cheated on his wife?
No, these internet polls reflect the opinions of those most informed while even many "conservatives" in national polls aren't informed about where the candidates stand on the issues or are going by name recognition.
It be foolish to think that the cast majority at website after website that would prefer a conservative over RINO Rudy aren't a truer reflection of the mindset of conservatives.
I'm not disagreeing. But, a conservative that has cheated on his wife is better than a liberal that has. At least, Newt is a true believer in conservatism.
I'd prefer Fred Thompson, though.
Indeed, in one recent poll, majorities of Republicans who were informed of Giulianis views on social issues said that they were either minor issues or no issues at all; only 16% said that they wouldn't vote for him after being informed of these views.
In the online GOP Bloggers poll, Giuliani is consistently one of the few candidates to end up with a net positive acceptability rating. These internet denizens are well-informed, and overwhelmingly self-describe as conservative (78% self-describe as 7 or higher on a 10-scale of conservatism). If these people can support Rudy, anyone can.
Human Events, Is Giuliani the Republican Peyton Manning,

Gingrich refused to support his children after his divorce, and their church was taking up collections for the family.
That is enough to sink him forever.
But then most democrats and most liberals are WOMEN..
The ditz vote will be large in 2008..
I agree, I respect Newts conservatism but don't believe he's electable at this time in history. Thompson on the other hand is eminently electable.
The reason the Rudy folks keep saying "only Rudy can beat Hillary" is because they're trying to distract you from the fact that, when compared to the other Republican candidates, Rudy looks just like the liberal he is.
So they stand him next to an even more liberal liberal, Hillary.
And then they repeat the lie. It's all they have.
Now, do you think any of the Rudy supporters will dispute the truth of my post?
Is that the same Duncan Hunter who bounced almost $150,000 worth of checks?
I don't think NewsMax is representative of mainstream Republicans.
What or who do you think is represenative of "mainstream" Republican, then?
Republicans have only been mainstream for one period of time in the past 50 years -- when following the principles of Ronald Reagan.
It's Giuliani Republicans that were buried in permanent minority before Reagan came along.
