UFOs flew over Phoenix in '97, Symington says By Tom Beal ARIZONA DAILY STAR
"The universe is a big place, and we're conceited to think we're alone." Fife Symington, former Ariz. governor Former Gov. Fife Symington says now that those strange lights that appeared over Phoenix a decade ago were from another world and that he had a close encounter with an alien craft on March 13, 1997.
"I'm a pilot and I know just about every machine that flies. It was bigger than anything that I've ever seen. It remains a great mystery. Other people saw it, responsible people," Symington said Thursday. "I don't know why people would ridicule it."
Symington, who was in his second term as governor of Arizona during the Phoenix Lights incident, recently told a UFO investigator making a documentary that he had kept quiet about his personal close encounter because he didn't want to panic the populace. He repeated his story Thursday on CNN, saying the craft he saw was "enormous. It just felt other-worldly. In your gut, you could just tell it was other-worldly."

If it is so common , why all the drama?
Another topic on this event. Pingworthy?
sure took him a long time....
One way is to attend an aircraft identification class. It's kind of a important skill if you don't want to be targeting your own guys, or if you need to verify that "Yep, those are Mig 23's not Mig 21's."
With some practice one can actually tell the difference between a helicopter, a fixed wing aircraft, a weather balloon, and a bird.
So you're scared too? :P
Mass hysteria, a bunch of flares from Casa Grande.
Hell, I was on an airplane coming in for landing during the whole time frame it supposedly happened and there was no talk on the plane from anyone about any lights.
I'm amazed this story still has legs 10 years later.
Meteorological balloons....
I drove back from Rocky Point one night they did a flare drop.
Pretty dramatic, we could see it for 50 miles, once we passed by the range, we knew what it was.
When the flares blinked out, that is when they went behind South Mountain.
bump to save
eD WooD might disagree. ;-)
ROTFLOL!
How many people saw that and jumped?
Oh man,, I got me a camera phone, I'm ready to shoot pics,, This is a pretty good Photo Chop or something , not sure what 8-?
This is a weird one too.

Totally weird. First time I've seen that.
Met the investigator who's been working on the Phoenix lights for 10 years. Has interviewed 300+ viewers.
The Phoenix lights--the real McCoy--were NOT flares nor Apaches. There was evidently government sponsored flares that night--but as confusion.
The huge V shaped craft was humongous and nothing known to be in our arsenel--at least not remotely publically.
There were flares that night.
The best information is that the flares were a deliberate effort to confuse the public and draw attention away from the authentic and huge UFO involved.
There's even evidence that the military folks knew ahead of time that the UFO was going to be doing it's thing over Phoenix and pulled the flare stunt ahead of time to confuse the public ahead of time.
Many abductees ARE told anti nuke stuff as well as environmental stuff. I consider both part of the vast game such forces are playing for mysterious purposes but in concert with the global government forces.
You clearly have also not investigated sufficiently to be exposed to the very solid evidence about the AUTHENTIC crop circles--not the minority of hoaxed ones.
Haughtiness is likely not fitting but certainly not before serious extensive study.
Not really. Because I haven't read any evidence that you've seriously and extensively researched the whole thing from the beginning of the evening until the last reported incident.
There's no real argument about the flares occurring at a given point in the evening over or near over training area(s) etc.
