If the cause of peace is worth supporting — and we believe it is — then peace protesters must demonstrate the values they promote. The vast majority of the estimated 15,000 protesters who took part in a peace march Sunday in downtown Portland did just that. They were well-behaved, well-intentioned and serious about their cause.
But then there was a smaller group of demonstrators — if they can even be called that — who engaged in numerous actions that violated the sensibilities of ordinary people and damaged the very cause the activists claimed to endorse.
This splinter group of protesters showed its support for “peace” by burning a U.S. soldier in effigy. It exhibited its supposedly pacifist nature by knocking a police officer off his bike — an action that brought out the police riot squad.
Perhaps the most disturbing scene of the afternoon, however, involved the man who pulled down his pants in front of women and children and defecated on a burning U.S. flag. This disgusting act actually elicited cheers from some members of the crowd, but we hope that the emotion it produces in the community is one of revulsion....

I am sure it is the "or worse" choice that most of them want. To these scum bags, there is only one thing that a conservative can do that pleases them, and that is to die.

The newspaper's employees failure to report the "anti-war" organizers' connections to violent, long-standing anti-American, foreign-sponsored groups plus a reader asking "who paid the disrupters" (they were "provacateurs from the right" another opined, Karl Rove perhaps?) tells me that the left does not want discourse.
They are incapable of rational discourse. They are incapable of facing truth.
Liberalism is truly a mental / emotional illness.
It's good to see that the majority of readers know the score.
Perhaps the majority on the left need a nice, quiet, and comfortable place to relax and chill out for the duration.

I have no doubt that they would want to but they do not have the means to do so as the blood letting would be rather extreme & they would end up on the short end of the stick & they know it.
The people of Portland have allowed this nonsense for so long that they think it`s normal.

Demand that the Senior Incident Commander be relived, fired , retired..
The Protestor the defacated in public committed a crimminal offense..
He quite properly should have been arrested..
Failure to do so is the result of cowardice or incompetence on the Part of the Senior Incident Commander and should be punished.
If it is on video the Local Prosecutors Office should suffer the same punishment with the public demanding the removal or resignation of them.

The leftist establishment's claim that this is an atypical incident representing a small fringe is just nonsense. Anyone who has been to a lefty demonstration in the past 40 years knows this.
As others have pointed out, the seditionist mob cheered this display and many joined in their chant advocating the burning of patriots and soldiers, meaning that it had been rehearsed on a large scale.
Beyond that, ANSWER, MoveOn.org and other fifth column groups are well known for enforcing rigid ideological discipline among demonstrators. They have "parade marshals" (goon squads) for this specific purpose. ANSWER's goons wear green hats, watch for them in the next batch of video. Nothing will happen, or continue to happen, at one of these events that does not have at least the tacit approval of the organizers.
