CHAPEL HILL, N.C., March 22 _ John Edwards, the North Carolina Democrat, said today that his wifes cancer had returned, but that his bid for the presidency goes on strongly.
The campaign goes on, the campaign goes on strongly, he said, with his wife, Elizabeth, at his side.
Mr. Edwards said he learned earlier this week that the cancer had reappeared in his wifes rib cage and that the couple recognized that it was no longer curable, though it could be managed with treatment.

He's insulated against the arrows and slings of Her Heniousness and O'Bama with this news.
Oh, my. Talking ill about the Breck Girl hiding behind his wife could bring all sorts of politically correct admonitions heaped upon the other contenders..
I'm sorry for the children and for her. ~But he's such an opportunist.
Yes, I thought it was a brave face. I think she wants to make the most of her time rather than sit home feeling sorry for herself. I thought she spoke very well. I doubt I could have pulled that off.
I'm sure the Edwards family made a joint decision. I'm not so cynical that I suspect his motives. We definitely have our political differences, but this transcends those differences. We are praying that the Lord would grant Mrs. Edwards a full and speedy recovery. Perhaps the Edwardses thought that the campaign would give her motivation and a purpose to work toward.
It won't be any different in 2012. He is using the situation for a political reason, and is hoping for a sympathy bump to get his campaign off the ground, where it presently is located.
Nothing really unusual or unexpected, as I see it. But I don't think it will help, or hinder.
In order to be disappointed in someone you have to have initially had the expectation that the person would do the right thing. I had no such expectation with Edwards so I have not been disappointed. Edwards is a typical, lying, pandering lib who will sell out anything or anyone, including this country and his spouse, in the pursuit of power. In the case of Edwards it's an even poorer decision because he doesn't have a chance in H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks of getting the nomination anyway.
Edwards' sense of what's important in life is obviously defective. In any event, there is no way he will be elected president. As Ronald Reagan said, if the people want you to be president, they'll let you know - there will be pressure on the person to run even if he doesn't particularly want to. This does not apply to most of the currently announced candidates.

She will be extremely lucky to live years with Stage IV cancer.
I hope this was Mrs. Edwards' call and not his. This is going to be very hard for her.
John Edwards: Complete Schmuck
Well, he could have at least put his arm around her while they were announcing to the public. I feel for her, I really do.
He is a self-serving a$$hole if there ever was one.
I'm willing to bet that he would happily give up the campaign if it meant that his wife would be healed. Come on, everyone, let's have some compassion for these people.
"I believe that Edwards should get just as much grief for campaigning while his wife is suffering"
Hey, I dislike Edwards politically, but if this is something that he worked out with his wife, and they both want this, I have no complaint.
If he uses the situation to beg for votes it'll be a different story, but for now, I see this as something they want to do.
Exactly......power is like crack cocaine! Can't give it up....Gives you a look into this man's soul.
So he's going to let her fight for her life with no emptional support from him, while HE campaigns on a "Feel My Pain" platform. URGH.

Of course that would mean that we can't criticize the victims any more.
".. His last question concerned a section in her book about the four 9/11 widows who dubbed themselves the Jersey Girls, .... In her book, Ms. Coulter calls them the witches of East Brunswick, describing them as Democratic Party pawns sent out onto the political stage because of their victim status, as messengers whom were not allowed to reply to, let alone criticize.

Now going to use her on getting stem cell research funding.
She'll live if you-all give.
In his mind he is thinking of the sympathy vote.
I feel for him on this. I do. But the leak was calculated, and his staying in the campaign is, too.
I'm somewhat angry about this.
Be Seeing You,
Chris
I was trying to refrain from being a smartass today considering what his poor family is going through, but it now sounds like he's milking the sympathy vote.
So, John Edwards is still a d*ck. His poor wife and kids, them I'm praying for.

Years?? Try months.
