The kind that believes people who support murdering babies and normalizing relations between men/men and women/women do not constitute "children of God".
I noticed that too. I was wondering why they weren't holding hands at such a time. For two people who have been together for 30 years and as he said, have been through other difficult times during those years, you'd think that the least he could have done was take her hand.
Will there every be a time when the words "health care" cross his lips that people don't think about her?
That's what I'm thinking
We watched his announcement at a restaurant. We couldn't hear the television so we just made up the content...still I'm shocked that we were right. And I didn't see him take his wife's hand, put his arm around her or do any thing else that might defy the callousness of his intentions.
Like Howlin pointed out --- "calling a press conference at high noon (at the very spot they were married, no less)..."
absolutely smacks of drama -- political drama. That's oxygen to MSM and to his sagging campaign. He'll be milking this all the way to the VP spot on the democrat ticket.
I did notice that and thought that was REALLY cold
I'm not saying they have to get all touchy feelly
But at least hold her damn hand
Thinking that through -- the not thinking it through/denial thing -- I'm left with the fact that if they are indeed still not fully informed (who could be after one day?), then watching the press conference is even worse for me because it leaves me with one impression: damage control.
"cower in the corner"...
What an odd way to put that....
I would only use that phrase if Edwards had been found caught doing something WRONG...illegal, immoral.
For him to use that choice of words is really interesting....
He can milk it .. and in a way I wouldn't be surprised if he did
but it won't help him
it will make him look like a selfish pig
I once told a liberal in a chat room about the foul and hateful things said on DU. He told me that he didn't believe it and it was "probably a Republican stunt to make democrats look bad".
I agree. Whether he suspended or continued his campaign wouldn't give me any right to judge him or her. Everybody deals with things like this differently. BUT, when he said "many would like us to cower in the corner, we will not cower in the corner", I found that to be a purely political remark playing on her illness.
It's rather unsettling for me the more I think about it; I remember -- as I'm sure many people on these threads do -- exactly how it feels when you find out "it's come back."
It's almost more devastating that the original diagnosis; he was a little too chipper for me.
>>>That's what I wondered; it hasn't been typed yet, so they are speaking in generalities.
>>>NN, did you see the thing about the lung?
By the time my mother's cancer reached the lung, she was put on a hormone pill that cleared it up, but things elsewhere progressed, and maybe bought a few months time...I think Mrs. Edwards may be in denial, and her husband too. If I were him, I'd quit politics and make the most of the time left with my wife.
No, I missed that info. Was this a talking head oncologist, or someone who has seen her scans?
I am afraid I have to agree with you, Dog Gone.
all i am saying is, i do not think i could be rational and objective in my decision making in the amount of time they have had to absorb and process this news. if, as MO1 said, he continues on in this presidential run, leaving her sicker and home alone as he proceeds, yes, i will judge him harshly for that. but at this stage, it may just be more than either of them can handle to admit of the possibility that she will die sooner rather than later. one can be informed and knowledgeable as all get out, about cancer, but when it is YOU or your family member they are talking about, that goes out the window and pure emotion takes over.
It was her own doctor after they left.

And nobody noticed?
