The oil companies' earnings are just under 10 percent of the price of a gallon of gas, while taxes take 17 percent.

Hillary wants to take all of the oil companies profits and redistribut them.

Will those who are dismantling this society from within or those who seek to destroy us from without be the first to achieve their goal? It is too close to call.

Thomas Sowell, American treasure.

When Democrats are criticized, they counter-attack. When Republicans are criticized, they apparently believe in "the soft answer which turneth away wrath." In politics, however, a soft answer is like blood in the water that provokes piranhas to more vicious attacks.

I hope the GOP leadership is reading.

He's a genius. In so few words he gets to the heart of the entire spin. "Out of Context" has been spinning in my mind since "Dame Plame" spoke it on Friday. However, she was
never asked exactly what the true "context" was.

Civil cases have lots of Discovery and perhaps we will find out then if she is so foolish to continue.

Sowell forgot to ask why there is an expiration date on sour cream....JJ61 (wink)

"Women's Liberation" and the "sexual revolution" have not liberated women. They have liberated the sort of man who is a "love and leave 'em" kind of guy, who lets the woman deal with the consequences, including pregnancy.

Thanks for the ping and the post. Dr. Sowell is DY-NO-MITE!

cuts in tax rates have led to increases in tax revenues -- in this administration... in the Reagan administration ...the Kennedy administration ...in India and Iceland as well.

I believe you can add Ireland to that list also.

But that still is not enough proof to the loones on the left.

How can we forward this gem by Thomas Sowell to every Republican in Washington???

To quote Bacon: "if it come to that, that the best actions of a state, and the most plausible, and which ought to give greatest contentment, are taken in ill sense, and traduced: for that shows the envy great, as Tacitus saith; conflata magna invidia, seu bene, seu male, gesta premunt. Niether doth it follow, that because these fames are a sign of troubles, that the suppressing of them with too much severity, should be a remedy of troubles. For the despising of them, many times, checks them best; and the going about to stop them, doth but make a wonder long- lived."

"The motion of factions, under kings, ought to be like the motions (as the astronomers speak) of inferior orbs; which may have their proper motions, but still, are carried by the highest motion of primum mobile"
