My brother is a police officer, I use to believe that cops were very decent, but not anymore. I think the majority are corrupt from the top down. Maybe not overtly corrupt, but they let each other go and do little favors for each other. They think they are little gods....(the majority).

I think you are right. I used to be the optimistic type until I got to know the retired cop neighbor I used to have.

One day we were fishing and he told me how he "saved the city millions" one time. Apparently a cop was driving really fast down a residential street and had a wreck, flipped his car into someones yard and into their living room nearly killing a homebound lady in her chair.

My neighbor was the first cop on the scene and "covered" for the other cop by swearing that he was just beginning a persuit and saw the whole thing. The poor homeowner did get his house fixed, but the city only had to pay the deductible.

The lady was on medicare so her medical was covered. So a judge granted the city judgement that restitution had been made. Cripes! It's not the most corrupt thing that ever happened, but it was enough for me to tell him that we won't be friends anymore. I don't cavort about with folks who screw over innocents like that.

Somebody's gotta say it, so I will: "Could this be traced back to Affirmative Action, set aside, quotas, 'positive discrimination', etc.?"

In my area; the majority of the police that I know are not as the one's you reference.

Most of the police that I know are active in community groups and charities (Kiwanis, Masons, Knights of Columbus etc), GOD fearing... and oh yeah, they put their arse on the line after Katrina and SAVED lives (along with Federal Troops and National Guard units from many States... made up (ALL) of true American Heroes)! BTW, two of my police friends served in the 82nd Airborne. Both have seen action in defense of freedom.

They did not loot Walmart like the New Orleans Police did. Perhaps Mississippi has a higher caliber of Law Enforcement talent. I am proud to call most "friend". There are a few however... that type exists in every walk of life.
