Your statement about Clinton is not only false but irrelevant even if true. To anyone following politics Clinton was known as far back as the late 70s. He started forming the FoB team which led to the White House. He was also pumped throughout the 80s as a comer. Then he was given the keynote address at the RAT convention.
But even IF true. The media was HAPPY to assist him to win the Presidency. That will NOT happen with a Republican unknown.
Wait till Fred becomes a real candidate and I am sure you will find plenty not to like about the man.
I remember reading something from the teacher's union from back when he first ran that he was against school choice. Then I hear the pro-school choice claim but nothing really to back it up.
So I take it that since you couldn't find anything to back up your claim your post is a tacit admission your assertion was incorrect?
"...take issue...have trouble with..." this is not the same as saying they will not vote for the man. They may "take issue" with Hillary or Obama EVEN MORE.
Where did you get the idea that voters as a whole know a great deal about the candidates? They obviously do NOT. And they know as MUCH or MORE about Rudy as they do about any of them. And they also know they LIKE the man which is probably more important than any other factor.
I don't do semantics. Apparently you have an exalted opinion of Rudyphilic FReepers to believe they have the power to "annoint" anyone.
"Where did you get the idea that voters as a whole know a great deal about the candidates?"
The ones who vote in primaries are generally more informed than the ones who vote in the general election. Those are the one who will determine whether rudy gets the GOP nod, not people called randomly on the phone.
Or didn't you know that?
Thanks for posting this.
You assume way too much.
Rudy is a lecherous control freak who grandstanded on the arts issue as he banged his mistress and appeared at gay rights events. His closest "religious adviser" was a priest he had gone to high school with, on the liberal wing of the Church, who was later busted for "inappropriate conduct" with another man.
In May 1999, Mayor Giuliani advocated in favor of education vouchers, proposing to allocate several million dollars to allow poor children attending poor-performing public schools to attend private schools.[21] In February 2007 reaffirmed his support for "school choice". However, he said his goal was not to end the American public school system. "I would not destroy it. I would revive it, reform it, and change it."[2]
I am already at the head of the long line. Proudly.
I've listed substance. You choose to twist it, ignore it or dismiss it.
Not at all false. The average man on the street never heard of Clinton prior to the Dem primaries. You said
To anyone following politics Clinton was known as far back...
This is your qualifier, "For anyone following politics" the vast majority of voters don't follow politics. 90% of them couldn't name their two senators and their Kongressman.
The media was HAPPY to assist him to win the Presidency. That will NOT happen with a Republican unknown.
Again you're only half right. The media won't assist ANY Republican known or unknown. The media is the propaganda arm of the Democratic party regardless of who's running.
I don't know where you stand on Julie Annie, but as far as I'm concerned he's just as poisonous as Hillary. If you have to become your enemy to win, what have you won?
Those who vote in the primaries are more likely to have a conviction of who they want to run but there are VERY few voters who know anything other than the latest sound bite or slogan about a candidate. All they want to know is does the candidate claim to believe what they think they believe.
In some cases it is MUCH worse. They may even KNOW that the candidate is a crook but don't care since he is THEIR crook. How many voters know that Maxine Waters, John Conyers and a host of other democrats are confessed socialists? In Mass they know that Teddy let a girl drown. Do they care? Hell no.
