Gov. Deval Patrick faced sharp questions yesterday after likening criticism of his office to hazing by political insiders, a statement that forced top aides to clarify his response to the recent run of scrutiny.
The governor . . . does not feel he has been the victim of unfair treatment, said Joe Landolfi, Patricks newly minted communications director. We are looking forward, not backward.
The questions arose after Patrick was quoted as saying that the criticism about his Cadillac, pricey office furniture and other decisions was attributable to hazing by the Bay States political elite.
Patricks comment appeared in a Washington Post article about the difficulties of his first weeks in office. The governor was also quoted saying that he must get more interested . . . in government by photo op, something he decried during his campaign.
Trust me, the governor does not feel that he is a victim of hazing, Landolfi said. If you saw his performance yesterday at the St. Patricks Day breakfast, you would know that this a man who does not think or claim he was a victim of hazing in any way.
On the photo-op comment, Landolfi said the governor does not spend his time strategizing public relations shots. The only image hes concerned about (creating) is a governor whos moving his budget forward, he said. Were not making a conscious effort to improve his photo ops or image in that way.

Hey Coupe, you didn't join a frat, you put yourself forward as a man who could run the state. Welcome to the bigs.
Um, why should anybody trust you? By now it has become clear to almost everybody that Patrick is a walking disaster for the Democrats - they need a fulltime cleanup squad to do damage control every time he opens his mouth...
What does anybody expect from an Affirmative Action Governor?
Howie Carr and the Boston Herald are guaranteed plenty of material for the next 4 years, if the first few weeks are any indication. Deval is also known to have a short fuse, wait until that happens.
> Welcome to the bigs.
LOL Believe me, governor of Massachusetts is triple A at best.
Question for the majority of voters in MA: What the heck were you thinking?!?
(Almost?) every single politician in Massachusetts for the last 20 or more years has been a loser. From the Congressional delegation (Barney Frank & Co), Kerry-Kennedy, and the line of liberal Republican governors from Weld-Celucci-Swift-Romney, not to mention all the local legislators, the standards for politicians in that state are a joke.
They make Mumbles Menino and especially Ray Flynn look good by comparison.
It might be a small patch of geography but the money that moves through the northeast states is astounding. This is the bigs, trust me.
