This is a good thing, this petition. It will provoke howls in France, but that is good. France needs to take the situation much more seriously. There is a vicious anti-Semitism among a lot of Arab youths which needs to be stomped out by hard actions by the state. If it were just graffiti and name-calling, it would be one thing. But there are murders and severe beatings going on now. It has to stop. If this jolts France, good. France needs jolting.
It is interesting that these Jews have chosen to seek asylum in America, as opposed to executing their right to emigrate to Israel. My own parochial view is that it is all well and good to go to Israel, but I want to concentrate as much talent in the US as we can get.

They might also have reflected on the persistence of Olmert in power and the psychological condition of the population that would retain him, and decided that there is not much future for Israel.
It was already bad when we were there in 2001 but it has gotten far worse. I agree with you that this is a good thing. I pray for them over there. They really need it. France has a terrible history of anti-semitism, and they are going to pay for this. God is not mocked.
We also need to address strict enforcement at all borders and stop the flow of illegals.
We as a society have far too many murders and other crimes and scams,even if mostly committed by our own native born population,it is absurd to keep inviting more and more people to join us in our own disordered state. It is a travesty and a disservice to U.S. citizens as well as to those seeking refuge,legally or illegally,to permit any more people in until we clean up our own house.
We are becoming contemptuous of one another and will not be able to stand much longer. That would be a tragedy and signal the end of western civilization,how sad.
There is anti-semitism in France, among non-Arab French, at every level of French society.
In addition to the historic culturally conditoned anti-semitism, there is the new, or not so new, unholy alliance between the Left and the anti-Israel, pro- Palestinian factions. Under the guise of anti-Israel, anti-Zionist rhetoric, it is the same hatred of Jews that was seen in Europe, in particular in France in the 30's.
I say, come on over. My local relief agencies are bringing over all kinds of Muslims, Albanians, Somalis, sending them down to the welfare office for welfare and also giving them charity assistance for food, housing, counseling to adapt, etc. So why not bring in some French Jews to counter-balance all the Muslims that are coming in?
