If this jolts France, good. France needs jolting. If murders and severe beatings combined with the riots over the last year are not enough, what makes you think this petition will 'jolt' the French?
I fear nothing less than the failure of the grape crop will jolt the French.

"This petition is bizarre, stupid and out of place,"
I suspect similar comments were common as Jews attempted to flee in the 30s

If they really want to be welcomed here, they'll have to go to Mexico and swim to the USA.

I will welcome any Jew who wants to come to the United States. I just hope most will understand our history and our culture. (not the filth and false degraded culture that liberals are creating).

More than 7,000 French Jews have signed a petition asking for political asylum in the United States because of anti-Semitism in France.
Exsqueeze me? Political asylum here?? Sorry, we're full up - try Israel.
After all, that WAS part of the purpose of forming that country now wasn't it. To have a homeland to escape anti-Semitism world wide.

Bienvenue!
As you enter you can pass by the Statue of Liberty,
your gift to the US.
To: Nachum
Let them in, even though they are French.

This poses a fascinating paradox. We must pick sides.
I too, hope Congress has the courage to support the Jews, but I think they're motivated more by fear than courage.

France, it seems to me, is looking to appease the radicals and run off its educated. Let me see, keep the uneducated trouble makers or the educated Jews that can help the country grow. Oh the French do have hard decisions to make. And the French consider themselves to the upper crust of the world...oh please!

Should Catholics seeking political asylum be forced to move to the Vatican then?

The petition was sent to the U.S. Congress and asks it to enact a law according French Jews refugee status. Ping

If the 7000 French Jews can just make it into Mexico, then they're home free. Especially if they can speak Spanish. ¡Bienvenídos a los Estádos Unídos!

"I hope congress approves this. Last time (1939) they didn't."
Refresh my memory - in 1939, Israel did not exist, right? Then why are not French Jews seeking refuge in the Jewish state of Israel instead of the US?

The Jews are beginning to flee Europe again...
Yes, but this time will we turn the boats away? We should accept them.
To: Condor51
Sorry, we're full up - try Israel. After all, that WAS part of the purpose of forming that country now wasn't it.I'd love the congress to officially accommodate these Jews, if only to show up Bush for uselessly sucking in thousands more hostile Saudi sandfleas.
But you have a really good point there.
To: Howard Jarvis Admirer; Condor51
They could seek refuge in Israel but why would we refuse them here? I don't think they have cut off heads in France for a few hundred years now.

Then why are not French Jews seeking refuge in the Jewish state of Israel instead of the US? Because Israel is closer to Iran then the US???
Just a guess on my part

I have the feeling that these particular Jews are on the conservative side. Otherwise, they wouldn't try to humiliate France by asking us for asylum from the raging muzzies.
