Refresh my memory - in 1939, Israel did not exist, right? Then why are not French Jews seeking refuge in the Jewish state of Israel instead of the US?
They could seek refuge in Israel but why would we refuse them here? I don't think they have cut off heads in France for a few hundred years now.

Probably because they want to get as far away from the muslims as possible. At least in the US there are areas where the muslim influence doesn't exist - yet.

I cannot speak for the majority, but certain Orthodox groups of some limited influence in France oppose the creation of the secular nation of Israel because that creation should be left for the (in their view) coming messiah.
The most radical of this group of thought are the NK nutjobs that met with Haman Imajihadi in Iran.
Opinions differ.
A lot are going to Israel every year. And a surprising number (though not that surprising when you consider it, because of its high Jewish population already and its french speaking) to Montreal, in Canada. About 1000 to Montreal every year, and considerably more than that to Israel.
Seems some want to come to America, though.
Why does it matter to you?
Should America turn away all refugees simply because there is another country in the world with their ethnicity as a population group?
IE - no Germans should be allowed to imigrate to America... after all, that's what Germany is for! Or Italy, or Poland, or India, etc, etc, etc.
The French Jews are most likely fed up with dealing with the Islamists, moving to Israel would not alleviate that problem.
