Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco will formally announce this evening that she will NOT seek re-election, numerous political sources tell WAFB 9NEWS. Blanco was elected Governor of Louisiana in November 2003, becoming the first woman to ever hold the office.

As recently as last week, Blanco said she would be a candidate. "My plan is to continue running," Blanco told reporters last Wednesday

This is the same thing that the media did for Al Gore to pick Joe Lieberman....they put out the word that Joe is the pick, and what else can Gore do....6 HOURS LATER!

Well, the media knows that Blanko is a DISASTER so they are forcing her into not running.

Probably a good move seeing as she is less popular in Louisiana than Nick Saben.

Well I am hoping he doesn't. Hopefully he will have this attitude

(1) I had a great Career
(2) Republicans and Dems like me
(3) I can go out with my good name attached
(4) I am making good money
(5) Since Louisiana is a mess I would be insane to jeopadize all that at my age

Lord I hope so too!

Honestly I like Breaux, he's a real old school Southern Democrat, honest as hell. His grandson and my little brother played on the same little league baseball team (they went to the state championship!).

Now I like Jindel too, met him in Arlington once, real nice guy. I just got my VA voter card so I can't vote in Louisiana but I'd scratch my head over this.

I am not celebrating. I think this means Breaux will probably run. Blanco would have been a MUCH easier opponent than Breaux...or anybody else for that matter.

Even as a Democrat, would Breaux be that bad? I would certainly vote for Bobby Jindal, but is Breaux all that liberal?

Also for some reason people think that North Louisiana is lilly white Republican. Many of these Parishes have huge African American populations that vote Democrat. Actually I think Jindal got like 30% of the black vote. Even Naigan supported him.

Jindal has been doing some very smart things recently. He has been all over North LA practically living up here - visiting in churches (all denominations). He was in our church Sunday before last. He gave his testimony. Not a political speech. Just an I'm one of you type talks. Very effective. Then he attended our potluck dinner afterwards. He means to win this time.

Although Breaux still owns property in Lousiana, he is a registered voter in Maryland. The LA GOP has already begun running ads on this.

Good for Bobby. I met him several times when he was Mike Foster's Secretary of Health and Hospitals. Great guy.

I'm still amazed that not one single MSM news show or 60 minute spinoff has ever put a microphone in Blanco's face and held her to account for her lack of leadership during Katrina. It was her show as governor far more than GWB's.

>"I wonder what Breaux will do"

He'll rule in absentia, and have his gubernatorial mail forwarded to mASSachutesits!

Cerially that POS had over 30 years to help this state. The only help he did was himself. Lined his pockets with our tax money!

We need a French revolution in this state!

Let them eat Landrieaux!!!!!!

It's funny, but I kinda liked the guy. He's honest and he really would put the state over politics. I still hope that Jindal wins, though.

Uh oh... it may not be good for Jindal. Well, he can wait until Landreu's term expires and runs for senate instead of the governorship.

..."becoming the first woman to ever hold the office"...

How could this possibly be a failure? The media has it's head up it's ass. Who gives a dump whether this incompetent poser was female or not?
