It is not a monstosity.
In fact I am going to go on it this summer.
As far as the nation without a nation thing, Its the U.S. gov. who made all those deals with the indians. The Indians have been screwed by the gov. for years.
There are plans for a visitor's center, IIRC, and already the usual suspects are objecting.
I too, wish them success.
Someone will jump within a week of its opening and force it to be closed.
No, thank you!
I'll pass.
After all, I might be dumb, but
I'M NOT STUPID!!!!!
They may also put a roof over it so that jumping will be impossible. Then, jumpers will merely do it from a nearby canyon edge.
There's little that can stop a desperately unhappy person.
Why would someone pay $25 to jump off it when one can just jump off of the canyon lip almost anywhere else for a lot less? Not that money is any matter when you're dead, but still.
You? I had to stop reading the story..I felt tingly and faint at the thought.
What is weird about the phobia is that I have climbed 14 4,000' mountains and flown six type of aircraft, but there is something about an "edge effect" or whatever that when lacking aluminum or granite between me and the abyss, I just fold up and get completely, gibbering terrified.....There. I admitted it. In pink.
Whoa...not on your life! I had dinner at the top of the Westin in Atlanta. They have one of those all glass exterior elecators. The restaurant was on something like the 70th floor. That was the creepiest ride of my life and I don't think I'll do it again any time soon.
Looks like BASE jumpers have something new to play with!
There's no way one jet could land on that thing, much less 72. I don't believe it.

I dunno....some of those US Navy carrier pilots are AWFULLY good :-)
"snicker"
Don't feel bad, I couldn't even look at the drawing without feeling ill.
The "edge effect" is the perfect description for that feeling! I don't feel so alone after reading this thread.
Has it gone up that much? It was only $10 for GC a couple of years ago. Last year it was $10 for Bryce and Zion.
Damned near needed one reading this. This office chair has no buttons on it anymore.
Got dizzy just looking at it.
Yeah but I'm still not going out there if there are any mega-fat people on it.
I just heard on FOX that they tried a casino, but the tribe is too remote and it didn't draw enough people.
I think I'll give this one a pass, but I bet the view is magnificent.
