Speech codes. Censorship. Enforced political conformity. Hostility to diversity of opinion. Sensitivity training. We usually associate such things with the worst excesses of fascism and communism, not with the American universities that nurtured the free speech movement. But American higher education bears a disturbing resemblance to the totalitarian societies that are anathema to our nations ideal of liberty. Evan Coyne Maloneys documentary film, Indoctrinate U, reveals the breathtaking institutional intolerance you won't read about in the glossy marketing brochures of Harvard, Berkeley, Michigan, Yale, and hundreds of other American colleges and universities.
"When we think of going to college, we think of intellectual freedom. We imagine four years of exploring ideas through energetic, ongoing, critical thinking and debate," Maloney said. "But the reality is very far from the ideal. What most of us don't know is that American college students check their First Amendment rights and individual freedom at the door."

He has some very funny and eye opening video interviews of liberal twits.
Kind of like going to work for the MSM.
In my last year of school, I was considering joining the military. I sought out advice from the people I trusted including many of my teachers.
One of the last ones I went to was our school's Chaplain (he also taught). This was during Vietnam, and this man was well known around the school as an opponent of the Vietnam War, who was quite prominent in anti-War marches. I respected him and that's why I spoke to him, because I thought I'd get an opposing view.
He told me that the military was a fine and worthy career and that he thought I'd do well in it. I expressed surprise that he'd say that.
He told me that he would never conceal what he believed from his students, but he would also never seek to impose his views on them. His primary aim as a teacher - his overriding purpose - was to help his students become young men who could think for themselves. And that he would consider himself a complete failure as a teacher if all his students came out with the same beliefs he did, because that would mean he hadn't taught them anything of value. He was, of course, delighted when he produced a thinking student who had come to the same conclusions he had - buthe wanted us to disagree with him if we believed he was wrong and he wanted us to be capable of forming our own beliefs whether teachers agreed with them or not.
That man was one of the finest teachers I can imagine - and as a teacher myself today, I take him as a model.
He would have nothing but contempt for those who seek to indoctrinate their students to match their beliefs, no matter what he thought of the beliefs.
And any teacher who does otherwise, isn't worthy of the title.
Filmmaker: "How can I get an appointment when nobody will return my requests?"
Flunky: "You're welcome to call me."
Filmmaker: "Instead of calling you can I just talk with you now?"
Flunky (holding up papers): "Now I'm busy."
The visuals of protests (read: everyone in a room agreeing with each other) are also hilarious.
Don't be silly.
The Left has commandeered American higher education--and the Free Press, Hollywood, the Democrat Party, and many enclaves that were once liberal and freedom loving.
Liberty is anathema to the Left.
Totalitarianism is its ideal.
George Orwell was a prophet.
Be interesting to see :)
University is only usefull to open the doors to better jobs and that's all!
That used to be the case, but no more. Now you need a high level skill set that's up to date or you're flipping burgers.
There is of course the seething Bush hate, but even more there are faculty that I respect expressing some of the most idiotic aspects of liberalism. For example, global warming is the accepted dogma by even those in the sciences who should be looking at the data more objectively. Before the 2004 election the ridiculous allegation that Bush was going to reinstate the draft within the first 90 days after his re-election was not only being circulated in faculty e-mail, but plans were seriously made how to help students avoid this draft. I can't imagine how much worse things might be at larger and even more liberal schools.
I'd nominate this for a CWII ping.
The university is one front where we're getting our butts kicked.
It certainly applies to Pa. colleges.
Interesting Bump.
Let me know when the CD is released.
