Columnist ill Catherine Seipp, longtime West Coast columnist for National Review Online (www.nationalreview.com), remained hospitalized yesterday. "She's sedated, with painkillers among other things," daughter Maia reported yesterday at her mother's blog (http://cathyseipp.journalspace.com). Mrs. Seipp was diagnosed in 2002 with inoperable lung cancer. "Lungs collapsed so right now we just want to make sure she has dignity and is not in pain," Maia wrote yesterday. "The doctor says she has a couple days left. ... I'm at her bedside now, holding her hand. I tell her she has 292 comments on the latest blog post ... but she just squeezes my hand." c Greg Pierce can be reached at 202/636-3285 or gpierce@washingtontimes.com.

It appears that Cathy Seipp is about to lose her war with lung cancer. This is awful news...
What a horrible thing for her and how awful for her daughter to lose her mother so young and so painfully. Her father was staying with her before she went back to the hospital. How awful for him.
Cathy is keeping her wit and humor to the very end.
It's devastating news.
Update - Cathy Seipp has passed away. Lewis Fein writes to let us know of her passing

Update, she passed away

Can you please help to update the title? Cathy Seipp has passed away.
Blessed relief for her. A great loss to us.
A great loss for all of us. Lewis wrote beautifully to show what care she took to make sure that Maia wouldn't suffer financially and emotionally.
sending prayers
May she rest in peace.
Sorry, Maia noted in the comments that Lewis had reported her as having departed and Maia says that she's still with us.
My apologies
Had I waded through the comments before posting, I would have seen that Maia said Lewis, she's not gone, she's still breathing.
I sent a note to Admin to correct the record.
This is good news (for now)
Prayers up from our family as well.
This is just damned sad, damned sad...
Sorry - I did miss that. Maia did chastise him for inferring that she'd already gone.
It is very sad.
She's still off the oxygen mask and as of this morning, she's still alive.
Here's a lovely accounting of Cathy Seipp as a friend to Advice Goddess.
