And I don't even want to think about what the confirmation hearings would look like for the next AG, let alone the attacks on the next Bush cabinet member.

I agree on those two, plus he should have stepped into the Duke case, IMO.

But it's WRONG to feed them this big of a fish, IMO.

Don't do drugs or you too could end up being elected to Congress. What a bunch of obnoxious buffoons.

I don't like Gonzales, but he shouldn't be going down the road just to appease the dems, which appears to be the case.

Agreed. He should have been gone over the border agents and "Dog" Chapman sellouts to Mexico. OUR way. On OUR terms. But not like this.

"You're right; Bush has had absolutely NO backing since the day he took office from the "we're always running" Republicans"

That is SO TRUE!

Look at that stupid HAVA voting law. It was a move to calm the storm of Dems screaming..."Bush did not really win".
And Congressional Republicans...yes...even Dick Armey...caved like a deck of cards.

The real problem I believe is not Gonzales but Bush' unwillingness to fight dems.

I have a different opinion, which is that Bush has wrongly appointed people who reflects his pro-big government views. I believe that the problem is with President Bush himself, who is a liberal in conservative clothing.

For sure.

It's the worst feeding frenzy I have seen in my lifetime.

And they're getting "fed" on a regular basis.

Truth be told, Gonzales never should have got the job in the first place. He's like Harriet Miers II, except he got the job. This is another embarrassment of Bush's own making, sorry to say - a result of his complete inability to cope with the media's phony scandal generation machine.

The title of CINC does not inoculate one from being criticized when folds and gives in to the Democrat's demands.

But in your world we should never be permitted to ever criticize any President.

I hope you have fun, with your mouth shut, during the H. Clinton era.

Bush has had absolutely NO backing since the day he took office from the "we're always running" Republicans.

The panel addressed that too...they said no Repub will come out and defend Gonzales or the WH on this.....damn

Very true. They think by throwing Al to the wolves...it will stop.

REPUBLICANS HAVE BECOME IDIOTS.

HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU HAVE TO GET BEATEN LIKE MIKE TYSON'S WIFE BEFORE YOU LEARN TO DUCK AND SWING BACK????

The one silver lining is that 'Berto probably won't get the nod for an SC opening, should another occur.

Maybe US Attorney Sutton has earned high enough marks with his successfully prosecuting those protecting our borders that he will get the nod to replace 'Berto.

[I wouldn't be surprised at anything this WH tries any more.]

I know that. He sure as hell didn't have a problem with enforcing that policy. Stop trying to score political points and put the country's interest first. Again, dimbulb, I'll be glad to see him go and if you are for open borders feel free to join him.

Allens inept a-- is now standing in the soup line with the rest of the "former" senators.

George Allen is the former Senator (apologized too much himself). He is not the writer for Politico.whatever. Politico is just another wing of the Washington Post and now they have another seat in the White House Press room.

Stevens might retire this summer and this way Gonzales will be completely removed from any SCOTUS short list.

I understand that a veteran prosecutor, Mike Nifong, from Durham, North Carolina, will shortly be seeking another job.

Appointing a Democrat to replace Gonzales would be a good way to show impartiality, while his most famous remark, "Evidence? We don't need no stinkin' evidence!" will be a tonic to prosecutors everywhere...

How many more months until "The New Tone" Compassionate Conservatism" is over? Our next leader better push back when harassed. Gonzales isn't great but there is no reason he should be falling on the sword like this and there is no reason President Bush can't just stand up for himself. I am sick of defending an individual that chooses not to defend himself

This is almost becoming some kind of comic tragedy. If I were the Dems I would be howling at how easy this has become for them.
