Chocolate City Mayor Blames "They" For Woes

America’s most inept mayor is at it again. Seems like it’s taking him too long to turn NOLA into the Chocolate City of his dreams but he knows why.

New Orleans Mayor C. Ray Nagin has suggested that the slow recovery and rebuilding of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina — which has prevented many black former residents from returning — is part of a plan to change the racial makeup and political leadership of his and other cities.

“They are studying this model of natural disasters, dispersing the community and changing the electoral process in that community.”

That’s right, boys and girls, “they” are sticking it to him. He sounds more and more like a Waffle House patron at 4 in the morning. Nevermind that he is the mayor, that he is in charge, that he is the leader. “They” don’t want blacks back in NOLA.

Nagin, who won reelection last May over Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, referred obliquely to the “chocolate city” comment at the dinner and suggested that his assertion that New Orleans would once again be a majority-black city had made him a political target.

After apologizing to everyone in sight after he made the chocolate remark, he’s now decided it is to his political advantage to be seen as a victim because “they” are so afraid of him that “they” are out to get him.

“Everybody in America started to wake up and say: ‘Wait a minute. What is he doing? What is he saying? We have to make sure that this man doesn’t go any further,’ ” Nagin told a room full of black newspaper publishers and editors at the Capital Hilton.

Kind of reminds me of that television commercial where the guy wants to stick it to “the man” and his assistant asks, “Sir, aren’t you the man?”. Careful Mr. Mayor, “they” are out there. And “they” are looking for you.

Must liberals have such an overinflated view of themselves?

Little timmy russert uses the term "some say" when asking a question.

Someone needs to ask Nagin who "they" is.

You know, New Orleans was a majority-black city when this all started, so i would have to guess that "they" were blacks who obviously worked very hard to plot their own destruction.

Well, look at the bright side, guys. As long as we have Ray Nagin around we have no need of comedians. He is his own joke, for sure.

Yep, all those racists want the NOLA blacks dispersed among their communities don'cha know? I can just see them plotting at night: "Cletus, there's too many of them negroes concentrated down there in Nawlins. We gotta spread 'em out a bit in the white neighborhoods, maybe move a few white girls into the lower ninth ward. That'll learn 'em!"

Of course that only happens in Nagin's fantasies. Real racists actually agree with him and want blacks concentrated in one place.

I wish Hershey, Pennsylvania would sue New Orleans for defamation of character.

Its Da Man. Seriously New Orleans should have been razed after Katrina.

Nagin need to get Obama's church and pastor to help in the effort. Seems like they both have a rather exclusionary view of communities.

I said that quote during Hurricane Katrina.

Nagin is certifiable. Worst mayor in the country.

History will be unkind to this jerk.

Remember I warned you folks....

We should have blown all the levies, and drowned this bus drowning Mayor and his supporters...

Give morons and leaches the vote - and a "Nagin" is the result.

New Orleans Is the Deadliest City

A new study by a Tulane University professor says New Orleans’ murder rate is the highest in the country. The report estimates the city’s 2006 murder rate at 96 per every 100,000 people. A key factor in New Orleans vault to the top of the ratings was the large decline in the city’s population following Hurricane Katrina.

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin called the study results “bittersweet.” “Everybody wants to be number one at something,” Nagin said. “We’re not in the running for the high prestige titles like ‘cleanest’ or ‘best educated.’ In fact, we’re on the bottom of those lists. So, I guess we’ve got to settle for what we can get.”

Nagin said the study debunks claims that New Orleans’ inhabitants are lazy and shiftless. “Murdering someone takes effort and initiative,” Nagin pointed out. “It doesn’t just happen. This display of enterprise gives me hope for the future of the ‘Chocolate City.’”

Nagin does indeed remind me of a Waffle House patron at 4 am. I picture him as a trucker, hunkered down over a plate of grits and toast, sipping black coffee, bug-eyed from amphetamine usage and having been awake for several days, and snapping and shrieking at anyone who gets too close or stares at him for too long.

I'm wondering....why is that San Fransciso could rebuild itself without government support yet NOLA, with all the governments (our) billions, can't?

Could it be the fact that government is involved now? Or people like Nagin are in charge? Or both?

I'm betting on the both answer.

Hey, as a sometime 4 AM Waffle House customer, I represent that remark! Actually, my late-night WH forays have more to do with a night of drunken debauchery and a failed attempt at staving off a hangover with coffee, hashbrowns, and eggs...
