"During his first years in the Senate, Thompson also began his fight for campaign finance reform. In September 1995, he introduced bipartisan legislation, along with Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI),"
FDT admitted that he was wrong about McCain-Feingold. But he was honest when he emphasized the fact that taking big bucks from special interests and then voting on measures which those same special interests have a big stake in is wrong.
Thompson is a straight shooter. The rest, except for Duncan Hunter, are all bull shooters...
Rudy has a lot in common with WJC. I know that's not a popular opinion to have---but when I worked at DOJ in the eighties Rudy was the US Atty for NY. My boss positively detested him, nothing personal, but he astutely pointed out that Giuliani only prosecuted cases that were likely to get good press; and was a camera hog to boot. Mind you, this was over 25 years ago, and he predicted that Rudy would be running for Pres one day. He also predicted that an unprincipled nobody from Arkansas would run for president one day. I never took anything that particular boss said lightly.
