I've been seeing a little coverage
about it. Crowds ain't too big.
One reporters said that therwe
appear to be only one or two thousand
antiwar protestors, versus their
permit for 30,00, and their
braggadiocio, of expecting hundreds
of thousands.

The reporter gave the impression
that the GoE counter protestors
was larrge, but from the camera
angles shown, i didn't see more
than 50 to a hundred.

Apparently there were a couple
of shoving matches between some
on each side, but the cops shut
em down pretty quickly.

The reporter said that the
cops seemed to be particularly
nervous for this protest.

All the camera angles i've seen,
are street/eye level...as one
cynuic once related to nme, was
to make a small group seem larger
than they actually are....When
crowds are actually large, they do
a lot of cajmera shots from roofs
or helicopters.

No helicopter shots yet.....;o)

They may be worried that it wouldn't take much for some real American men to turn anti-war sheehanista pussies into stains on the sidewalk.

For the moonbats, maybe. The pro America crowd is huge. From the GOE site:

The turnout has been AMAZING! At about 1030 the moonbats had maybe 400-600. Our crowd was huge, spread out over three areas (the main rally point east of the Wall, the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, and congregated in front of the paltry herd of moonbats. I am guessing we had at least 4,000 at that time, probably more. Now, the march of the moonbats isn’t schedule to start until noonish, so it will grow, but we still have folks arriving all the time. This ol’ cynic is truly inspired. Thank you everyone!

Fox is reporting that the Great Unwashed were only able to turn out about 5,000 of the hard core leftist. No estimate of how many Patriots turned out, but I'd be surprised if it weren't at least that many, maybe somewhat more. Photos show a shoulder to shoulder guard detail at the Wall, and several deep at the Lincoln Memorial detachment.

They shouldn't be. A lot of those GOE guys look like they could do crowd control all by themselves.

Just sent Catherine a msg that her "false statement" about 10's of thousands of "war protestors" was totally wrong.

I've heard there's at least 3 to 1 in the GOE favor.

I just got back from GOE. I don't know how many of us there were, but there was a crowd of about fifty just blocking one gate into the area, heckling the passing procession of moonbats. Total- probably several thousand that I could see of us.

Apparently there were a couple of shoving matches between some on each side, but the cops shut em down pretty quickly.

Saw one minor scuffle due to a moonbat infiltration attempt. A guy I was talking to said a couple of 'bats broke through, going for the wall, but got taken down.

The reporter said that the cops seemed to be particularly nervous for this protest.

The cops were at ease around us. I saw them telling a group of 'bats to back off a few times.

There was a bit of shoving going on but the worst thing I saw involved a confrontation with an elderly veteran and a man who said he was a Muslim.

I am going to write a post about the whole thing with pictures of the Muslim. I wrote a short piece about it here:

http://www.onebigdog.net/2007/03/17/back-from-goe/

I hope to get more detailed info out along with some of my pics later today but as you can imagine, we are all beat.

And yes, there were quite a few of us around and most moonbats did not want a direct confrontation (except abad mudda, the Muslim guy)
