Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has apologized to U.S. attorneys under him and appointed an interim chief of staff as pressure builds for him to resign.
Gonzales apologized to all 93 U.S. attorneys in a conference call Friday as morale in U.S. attorneys' offices across the country deteriorated, McClatchy Newspapers reported. Gonzales has been at the center of a controversy over the way in which eight U.S. attorneys were fired in recent months

They make me sick. Third party, anyone else out there, here I come.........................
This is the quandary many will continue to face in the coming months:
Conservatives: (1) take control of the party and nominate a conservative, (2) sit down, shut up, and support the big-business country-club nominee, (3) go elsewhere.
If enough do #1, they can wrestle control away from the wimps. Otherwise, they will get more of the same.
If enough do #3, they may not win, but they can create a block vote that could swing the election, and thus be a significant influence, and eventual grow into a viable challenger [there are more Independents than members of either party, so a viable 3rd party could become a power to be reckoned with in just a few years].

Forget about Gonzales apologizing to everybody in sight...
It's President Bush who should apologize for appointing a lightweight like Gonzales and allowing his Administration to get continuously rolled from every conceivable angle by the Democrats (who are pros at this personal destruction game). Meanwhile, they laugh up their sleeves and continue to destroy him while he fails to defend himself or his people.
The Liberals smell blood in the water. Gonzales is finished, and he is not the first. General Pace is next.

Probably not until after the election.

Here's a thought. We know the Dems only bring out the big guns against someone who is being effective. Has Gonzalez been doing something right while we weren't looking??

False apology for a non-scandal!Wrong.
False criticism of an unknown statement about a non-scandal.
The article doesn't even give a direct quote of what Gonzales said.

I was for Gonzales because of my respect for Bush's judgement -- even tho Gonzales was (and is?) a member of MECHA

Even Gringrich caved to Clinton. It's official: Any 'real' men (like Rumsfeld) don't stand a chance against the left. Socialism is here to stay.

The Dims, drive by media, couldn't find an effective person in the administration to attack. It was just Gonzalez's turn.

The Liberals smell blood in the water.
They've had a taste since Ashcroft 'left'. And Michael Brown. And Rumsfeld.
They are chewing away, while GW is still seeking that new tone in Washington.

Hey Nancy, I'm still waiting for the direct quote from Gonzalez to see if what he said was inappropriate.
Since you know some much about this, can you please post the quote and the source?
To: moonman
Exactly. If this plum assignment is just too hard for their tissue tender sensitivities then they can go chase ambulances for a living. With over a milliom lawyers in this country there have to be at least 93 who want to do the job they're getting paid to do.
To: FreeReign
I don't think Republicans have to appologize unless they're conservatives. The dilemma is that conservatives don't have anything to appologize for.

It appears that after the 2004 elections that the GOP and the White House just laid down and died. And when a democrat says roll over, sit up and apologize, they do, no matter for what it is for and no matter if one is needed.

If we criticize, we should be able to offer suggestions. The pubbies need to stand united. Think about it! How many democrats go off the reservation and oppose the party position? Even the most viscious ememies within the rat party come together on 99.99% of the issues........
Then count the RINOs.........
Bush may be a 'decider' but he is not a 'uniter'.
