Deport them. Enforce the law. 59.19 % (1227)
Send them home and offer a path to citizenship that puts them at the end of the line of applicants. 14.33 % (297)
Let them choose a guest-worker program with a time limit for their departure. 9.07 % (188)
Give them full citizenship. They're already established members of society. 6.51 % (135)
Send them home but offer a speeded-up citizenship process to encourage them to participate. 4.78 % (99)
Throw them in prison. Entering the US illegally should be a felony. 4.25 % (88)
Leave them alone. There are no good, legal answers so let it slide. 1.88 % (39)

For decades or more, Texas, California have thrived on migrant labor from Mexico. They had no status, earned wages far above anything at home and left. Now they're not leaving. Now more are arriving illegally and their intentions are no longer the aspirations of wage earners seeking a better financial situation but a claim on the country they've invaded.
We face a dilemma. We want them temporarily, abide their presence temporarily but in the end they're scofflaws and a burden to society. It's become pandemic and needs to stop. No agreement is apparent between the responsible national governmental agencies to resolve the situation while local law enforcement suffers from an influx of more criminal elements of a failed guest worker and immigration policy.
Wolves follow lambs. Close the border or annex the northern Mexican provinces.
And close the border.

* This is not a scientific poll. It is offered for those readers interested in expressing an opinion on a central issue presented in the accompanying story. The results are representative only of those self-selected Internet users, not of Internet users in general or the public as a whole. Voting not closes 30 days after the poll is posted.
I select myself.

The longer they have been in this country illegally, the longer they have violated the law.
