March 16, 2007 Editorial Phony Fraud Charges
In its fumbling attempts to explain the purge of United States attorneys, the Bush administration has argued that the fired prosecutors were not aggressive enough about addressing voter fraud. It is a phony argument; there is no evidence that any of them ignored real instances of voter fraud. But more than that, it is a window on what may be a major reason for some of the firings.
In partisan Republican circles, the pursuit of voter fraud is code for suppressing the votes of minorities and poor people. By resisting pressure to crack down on fraud, the fired United States attorneys actually appear to have been standing up for the integrity of the election system.

'All Limbaugh has to do is open his radio program and say "ladies and germs, in 1993 Bill Clinton fired 93 out of 94 federal prosecuters." '
On Air America, the spin was that no President had fired US attorneys in the middle of their term, giving Mr. Clinton an out.
They claimed that by firing the prosecutors in the beginning of his term Clinton did not disrupt on-going investigations, but that is a lie. The whole reason that Clinton cleaned house was to get rid of the prosecutor who investigating Whitewater and shut down the investigation. That's why he ultimately asked for an independent council. Clinton thought that he would have more control of information leaks from an independent council investigation. He got blind sided by the Monica allegations.
"I believe it can be summed up by saying the White house has Iraq style 'Rules of Engagement'(ROE and) the left has Al Queda's."
I hadn't thought of it that way .. but come to think of it .. you may be right.
The other problem is the ROE for the WH has been self-imposed.
And I think it will be that way with this Pres. Good people at heart have a hard time attacking others.Except for family, then we go berserk!
