Political Video of the Day: Team Rudy & Judy

Politicians use their wives in campaigns. It's just how politics is played in the 21st century. Hell, even George Washington probably got some political mileage out of Martha.

However, to anyone in attendance at the Giuliani fundraiser at the Sheraton in Midtown Manhattan this evening, watching Judith Giuliani introduce her husband, the former mayor, it became clearer than ever that Rudy Giuliani has some serious female problems.

Yes, we all know about his three marriages — and particularly about his very messy and public divorce from his second wife, Donna Hanover. The question going forward, however, is how does he introduce the American public to his current wife. As the video below shows, that could prove a pretty tricky proposition.

Here, she starts off by saying, "I wanted to tell you all a little bit about how Rudy and I came to be our team together." The problem with this is that we all know their relationship began as an affair, while he was still married — be it in a publicly "distant" (that's how the press likes to put it) marriage. She then goes on to describe some of their early flirtations.

I don't think I was the only one at this point thinking:

Did you watch the video? It isn't fair to compare her to the classy current First Lady but how can you not?

One of the things about Rudy that is refreshing is that he doesn't cover up or refuse to speak about his past.

Whether or not Rudy will win the nomination is another story, but Rudy does put his life on "UpFront Street" for all to see.

That is what I teach my children too. You go out there and be unfaithful and break up the home of your children but be sure to talk about it.

I realize we aren't all public speakers, but didn't someone help her write her speech? Or is this the kind of woman Rudy trusts to write her own speeches?

I would not make excuses for their lack of character or pretend it is not important.

Can you imagine her visiting a school in her capacity as First Lady telling the third graders to stop reading so fast?

I don't see what people are complaining about. She's a nice nurse with a sense of humor. I liked her jibe at Rudi, that even though she wasn't in politics she knew enough to be a Republican from the get-go (paraphrased). I'm a little concerned about the concept of "Team Giuliani", because it sounds too much like the ill-fated co-presidency, but I like the fact that she's supporting the effort.

Besides, I like her looks and her voice.

He is appearing openly with his former aid and she admitted that they had an affair. That is hardly making excuses.

I am not a fan of Rudy, his politics on my issues are not on the same page, however he is upfront about what he has done.

Do a google search of the term "Judith Nathan" and "whore" and see what you get.

This is already out there and it will only get worse as time goes on.

Is that really the face you want to put on a Republican White House?

It's refreshing to have an proud adulterer and someone that demonstrates no concept of right and wrong as a Republican Presidential candidate?

It was just back in 1992, conservatives were stating character matters when it comes to candidates. Now, some of the same types are telling us it doesn't.
