Last year when I was there, there was one solitary man with a simple sign at the front gate with only two words on it: THANK YOU
Please spread the word about an appeal for redress that people in the military can sign to show support for the mission:
My nephew is stationed at Fort Carson. He has two Purple Hearts to his name and four pieces of shrapnel still in his back. They think they can get them out if work their way up a little. He told my brother that he wants to return to his unit and finish the tour with his tank. He got hit near Balad. Wish I could be with you folks to honor him and his buddies.
I'm sorry you can't attend, but maybe one of the future rallies? (unless you're far away, that is! One of the things that inspired me to do this is my disappointment over not being able to go to DC to support JimRob and other FReepers who are participating in the Gathering of Eagles.)
God bless you. Wish you could have done it tomorrow. My best friend's son is stationed there and is ending his stint in the Army next week. He will be coming home. He had a tour in Iraq. Hope you get lots of help.
We've got a nephew serving at Ft. Collins. He returned from Iraq last fall.
I'll forward a link to this thread to him.
Our Lord's Blessings to you.
Hey, my banners are ready--if anyone in the Springs would like to, we can go over there tomorrow for a little preview! Please thank your friend's son from me for his courage and service.
Great--thanks, Diver! And please pass my thanks to him for his courage and service.
That is just wonderful. I'm having an additional sign made that says just that, and if I'm all by myself there it will still have an impact!
Hi all--I've pinged you because your home page indicates you're located in Colorado Springs. Hope you don't mind. I just wanted to get the word out about this rally. I hope to see you there!
Not a problem.
Thanks, American Quilter. I'll check my schedule and chat with my wife about it.
Off-topic -- my wife just started quilting, and loves it!
Excellent, Theo! Let me know if you can be there (I certainly understand about busy schedules). And kudos to Mrs. Theo for quilting!
Were is the main gate?
I don't know if I can make it, I live about 40 miles north, but just may and need general directions.
Take I-25 south to the last Academy Blvd exit (it's the one after the Circle Drive exit) and go west about 1 mile to Hwy 115. Go south on 115 to the first stoplight and turn left--that's the main gate.
I'll be providing more specific directions and info about parking, etc., closer to the day. Hope to see you!
I am a retired Army NCO and I will be there. Is there anything you need?
Hi everyone--I pinged you because your home page on FR indicates you may be within striking distance of Colorado Springs, or because I met you when JimRob was here last year, or--in one case--just because I thought you had a cool freepname! I hope you won't mind--I'm just getting the word out about the rally, and am hoping some of you might be able to make it. Please freepmail me if you're interested!
Great--I'm delighted to know you'll be coming! Feel free to bring flags, or a banner or sign to hold, if you have one. (And you have Freepmail.)
Thanks. If I come I will bring an American Flag.
Great--thanks!
