I think it has to be a knowing and intentional disclosure of someone you know to be a "covert" agent. The CIA guy, Grenier, when he disclosed her name failed to tell anyone she was "covert." I know it was Grenier who told the WH about her. I am not sure how Armitage learned of her though. Anyone?

Anyway, the Republican congressman on the committee kept stressing that the CIA failed to protect her when they disclosed her name without mentioning her status.

I guess you consider all these one single issue. That "single issue" mantra is a dead giveaway of liberal sentiments.

Of course, those with a security clearance are under an obligation to ensure that information they are disseminating to persons without a clearance is not classified, before they share the information. But the fault isn't theirs for failing to do so, it is the fault of someone else for not doing that for them.

Sadly I think we know the answer to that.

Free-dame: According to the official Senate investigation, what Wilson wrote in the NYTimes was not true. He reported something different to the CIA, making his op-ed not a leak and thus not illegal.

Lugsoul: Not exactly, though it gets cast that way a lot, especially here. The Committee as a whole did not issue that part of the report. Those conclusions are from a minority report, and are disputed by others.

Actually, she admitted that she was switched to a job with commensurate rank, she only climed she didn't get to do exactly what she might have wanted to do in the future. That she might have returned to covert when the kids grew up.

That is correct. The whole point of the legislation was to go after people like Agee -- and the people at "Covert Weekly" (or whatever it was called), which was a Cuban/Communist front organization who wanted to "out" all CIA covert agents so that they could be killed.
