"Bill To Give Plame Pension Despite Age Requirement"
Yeah, the Dems will give her a pension in exchange for all she's done for them.

Nevermind...I just now found it. Danged Yahoo wouldn't give me anything but negative stories about the WH, but Google came through. It was in a Byron York article:
But documents released at trial suggest the CIA was looking for someone to send to Niger before Cheney ever asked the question. It appears it all began with a report from the Defense Intelligence Agency raising the possibility that Niger had agreed to sell uranium to Iraq. The CIA, which was often at odds with DIA, wanted to knock down the report - and the trial documents indicate that Plame (Mrs. Wilson) volunteered her husband for the job the day before Cheney chimed in.

Thanks very much anyway...I'll keep that info on file for future use.

The Dems will send them press releases. What the heck, the overwhelming majority of them are Dems, anyway.

She says she wanted to go back overseas when the kids were older.. Some reporter [David Corn I think- who unlike Novak actually attached 'covert' to her] claimed she was slated to be station chief in Rome. Talk about delusions of grandeur. She might have to sleep with Vincent Cannistraro to get that high up the ladder.

"I did not suggest him. I did not recommend him. There was no nepotism involved," she said, adding, "I did not have the authority."
It was the suggestion of another CIA officer who knew that Joe Wilson had previously gone on other CIA missions "to deal with some other nuclear matters," she said.
She said she had later been asked to write an e-mail summarizing the discussion that included the possibility of her husband making the journey. A portion of that e-mail was later taken out of context to make it seem that she had suggested her husband for the assignment, she said."

February 12, 2002 The Defense Intelligence Agency writes a report concluding Iraq is probably searching abroad for natural uranium to assist in its nuclear weapons program. Vice President Cheney reads this report and asks for the CIAs analysis. (Senate Intelligence Cmte., Iraq 38-39, July 2004).
Responding to inquiries from Cheneys office, the State Department, and the Defense Department, the CIAs Directorate of Operations Counterproliferation Division (CPD) look for more information. They consider having Wilson return to Niger to investigate. In the process, Valerie Wilson writes a memo to a superior saying, My husband has good relations with both the PM [prime minister] and the former Minister of Mines (not to mention lots of French contacts), both of whom could possibly shed light on this sort of activity. One of Valerie Wilsons colleagues later tells Senate investigators she offered up his name for the trip. Wilson says that her agency made the decision and she only later approached her husband on the CIAs behalf. (Senate Intelligence Cmte., Iraq 39, July 2004).
"February 19, 2002 Joseph Wilson meets with officials from CIA and the State Department. According to a State Department intelligence analysts notes, the meeting was convened by Valerie Wilson. She later testifies that she left the meeting after introducing her husband. (Senate Intelligence Cmte., Iraq 40, July 2004)."

Ames was arrested in early 1994. Wikipedia says Plame met Wilson in early '95 or '97. They married in April of '98. Since Wikipedia isn't specific as to when they first met, it's hard to say when she was recalled, but Wikipedia says they met at a convention in Washington while working for Bill Clinton. Now it doesn't say who was working for Bill Clinton. Wilson or his wife? Or both? If she was in Washington in early '95, does that mean she had already been recalled home because of the Ames affair? According to Wikipedia, Joe Wilson was in Stuttgart, Germany from '95 through '97, and then returned to Washington work for Bill Clinton from '97 to '98.
Since her and Wilson married in April of '98, and she had twins in January of 2000, and wasn't outed until July of 2003, that's a time period of slightly over 6 years. I can't see her marrying Wilson in '98 and still being overseas as a covert agent, especially since Wilson was working for Clinton during that time.

Ugh..you are right...
Radical leftist ex-CIA employees are not as rare as one might suppose. Several of them in fact have banded together to form the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity. This was founded by one Ray McGovern, who once worked in the CIAs Russian desk before the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, and claims his group now contains 35 disgruntled ex-employees who left the Agency. William (Bill) Christison was a member of its steering committee, and his wife Kathleen a rank and file member.

A Google search also indicates that they apparently have a problem with Israel (evil Joooos alert) and have been to Iraq to protest.

That jumped out at me, too. How can she sit there and claim that the excellent work of the CIA is compromised! I wonder if we had one agent in Iraq? There are quite a few people here who still think there are or were WMDs in Iraq. Wouldn't that mean the CIA was right?

That was Kristof that said Joe told him she wanted to be Rome Station Chief. I put a link somewhere earlier in this thread, but don't have time to go look it up right now. Have to run...my dog just bit the contractor that's sealing my log home...YIKES!
To: JFC
That's about what showed up today; because they are the majority now, they have more members. (They wouldn't agree to "power sharing" like Trent Lott did, big surprise, huh?).

One piece of information I have always looked for. Who actually sent Joe Wilson on the assignment? Someone who is not Valerie Plame made the decision that he was qualified for the job.
If Wilson was not the right choice, his wife is not to blame. Who picked up the phone and said "I will send Joe Wilson to look into the matter?"

they have never said who actually ok'ed her recommendation but I'm assuming it's one or both of the Officers mentioned here
"March 5, 2002 Wilson reports back to two CIA officers at his home. Valerie Wilson is present but does not participate. (Senate Intelligence Cmte., Iraq 43, July 2004)."

You all may have said this.. but who are all of those people behind Valarie. The man with glasses seems to not agree with her and the dark short haired lady does seem to shake head when Valarie speaks....
