Is the Earth still recovering from the "Little Ice Age"? A possible cause of global warming.
International Arctic Research Center ^ | Syun-Ichi Akasofu

"Abstract: There seems to be a roughly linear increase of the temperature from about 1800, or even much earlier, to the present. This warming trend is likely to be a natural change; a rapid increase of CO2 began in about 1940. This trend should be subtracted from the temperature data during the last 100 years. Thus, there is a possibility that only a fraction of the present warming trend may be attributed to the greenhouse effect resulting from human activities. This conclusion is contrary to the IPCC (2007) Report, which states that “most” of the present warming is due to the greenhouse effect. One possible cause of the linear increase may be that the Earth is still recovering from the Little Ice Age. It is urgent that natural changes be correctly identified and removed accurately from the presently on-going changes in order to find the contribution of the greenhouse effect." This excerpt comes from a 14 page PDF file. A scientific abstract from a researcher at University of Alaska. It's quite interesting reading. I suggest rerading the whole thing if you have interest in this topic. The link will take you to the PDF.

Here in the Albany oblast of the People's Republic of New York, we're about to get close to 10 to 15 inches of global warming today and tomorrow. When I'm done shoveling on St. Patty's Day instead of enjoying my customary pint(s), soda bread and The Quiet Man with Mrs. Dahoser, I'm sure I'll have a few ideas for where Al Gore can best display that Oscar® in his house.

There are not 57 varieties of CO2. All the mammals on earth are constantly emiting it. Far in excess of what man can muster on the side. Over 99% of CO2 is not from human activities. Get over it. Send me your $$$ if you want to throw them away.

The last paragraph is quite interesting:

"One lesson here is that it is not possible to study climate change without long-term data. {snip} However, this is what climatologists must face. In some sense, inaccurate data during the last few hundred years are more important than accurate satellite data after 1970 in our study of global warming. Unfortunately, at this time, many studies are focused on climate change after 1975, because satellite data have become readily available. A study of climate change based on satellite data is a sort of “instant” climatology."

Not to mention that a global average for temperature to representa a dynamic world climate is virtually non-sensical and says nothing meaninful.

An interesting little ditty on constructing and using a global "average" as a proxy for change in climate.

I like this excerpt:

"Some of the current global warming stories, including “The Day after Tomorrow,” are based on science fiction, not science."

My question is this...how does someone join up with the Arctic Research Group? That'd look mighty keen on my resume.

Great article.

Instant climatology is what all these global warming alarmists are engaged in.
