FNC's Hume Chastises Media for Failing to Point Out How Clinton Fired Every Attorney
NewsBusters ^ | March 13, 2007 | Brent Baker

Brit Hume led his Tuesday night Grapevine segment by scolding his media colleagues for how “news stories reporting that the Bush administration had considered firing all 93 U.S. attorneys across the country failed to mention that that is exactly what Bill Clinton did soon after taking office back in 1993.” Hume explained how that was not noted, “even in passing, in front-page stories today in the New York Times and the Washington Post, or in the AP's story on the subject.”

Earlier in the FNC newscast, reporter Steve Centanni pointed out how “the White House acknowledged there were talks in 2005, just after the President won his second term, about terminating all 93 U.S. attorneys just as President Clinton unceremoniously did 1993 after he won the White House.”

we need to send this question to all major news outlets, MSM,NYT,WP, etc..

Did Clinton fire those attorneys for political reasons, or was it because of incompetence?

W's handling of this is astonishing: The administration's silence on the Clinton hypocrisy is a new low for the "New tone" presidency. Someone help me - Does W get it? Is there something I'm not seeing? Is this the Twilight Zone...

It was for political reasons. How could all 93 be held to be incompetent in the first couple of weeks of his administration?

I'd like to see W pound the Dems AND the Media when he gets back from South American.

I give it a 10% chance he will.

He's still the best anchor in the business. Solid as a rock. Think about it. CBS gave a loser a sh--pot full of money and didn't try to steal this guy.

Being right truthful is a lonely job.

It can also keep you from hosting a DemocRAT debate in Nevada.

I hate to say it, but the Bush Administration either FEARS the Media, or he is so sheltered he thinks he can ignore them.

Bush is GOOD when he's on the offensive.

Bush has brought this upon himself for not removing them immediately - he has stupidly believed that he is above the rancor and backstabbing - that he can make friends with the leftests. The left hates him and the right is starting to hate him too for his lack of balls to do whats right. He is a failure - and exactly the reason conservatives will NEVER be duped in voting for another RINO - regardless of the consequences. It is better to vote my conscious and abide by my principles than to allow a backstabbing RINO to further dillute the constitution of the US.

Get ready for the GOP counterattack gang, here is the response I just picked up as a Dow Jones News headline:

"Bush: Concedes Mistakes Made In Firing Of US Attorneys"

I kid you not.

W was just on ABC Radio...Bush said, "These attorneys serve at the pleasure of the President."

He sounded pretty good. More, please.

If Brit Hume was picked up in place of Katie by CBS they would be No.1, but they would never do it.

What he said was the Justice Deparment should have been more clear...they were fired, in part, due to complaints from Congress.

But, of course, everything Bush does is a mistake in the Media.

It's days like this I miss Reagan; he'd have a field day with the dems and the drive-bys. He'd not only turn the situation around on them but see his approval rating jump in the process.

No, he's a "turn the other cheek" republican. "Reach Out!"

"Never mind the bloody stump I got the last time I did that"

"New Tone" sounds more like a loud fart now.

I knew we were in DEEP TROUBLE when W refused to round up all of Clinton's scumbag hooligans who vandalized the White House.

It's gone down hill since.

Why was Fitzfong allowed to move forward? Why is Sandy Pants the Burglar still free? Why isn't Ted in a mental institution? Why is Dame Hitlery blowing gas on this?

Read my tagline!

W's been cut off up to his armpits, and it IS ALL HIS FAULT.

This is proof that the Left are a bunch of hypocrites that condoned Clinton for his firing or US Attorneys while blasting Bush for doing the very same thing.

Thankfully, Conservatives are consistent in their standards by supporting both Clinton and Bush in their decision to fire US Attorneys.
