Constitution Party press release:

Battered Voter Syndrome

For Those Suffering from This Debilitating Disorder, New Poll Suggests Recovery Has Begun.

LANCASTER, PA/ March 12, 2007: A recent poll taken at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C. shows conservatives are fed up with the current political regime and want a new batch of leaders.

The poll (ConservativesBetrayed.com) shows 82% of those asked think the Republican Party no longer represents them. The results of the poll are tantamount to a “no confidence” vote and come in the wake of the Republican Party’s stunning defeat in November.

“Like battered spouses, many voters held on, believing time and again the promises the Republicans made about limiting government, staying true to conservative ideals and getting the country back on track” commented Constitution Party (www.constitutionparty.com) National Chairman Jim Clymer. “For far too long voters endured the disappointment of years of broken promises from those they trusted. Now, it appears voters are quietly packing their bags, filing for divorce from their abusive political party and moving in with a party that has never strayed from its constitutionally-sound platform” Clymer noted.

We Won’t Be Fooled Again

The CPAC respondents also registered their disapproval of the so-called ‘front-runners’ the GOP is offering as presidential candidates in ’08. Close to 90% of those polled said they’d vote for the conservative standard bearer Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo over such hyper-liberal GOP darlings as Rudy Giuliani (24%) and Arizona Senator John McCain (16%). In fact, those asked said they’d vote for a third party candidate if McCain wound up being the Republican nominee. Texas Congressman Ron Paul-who has a 100% constitutionally-sound voting record, but is assiduously ignored by the Republican leadership, polled at a high 62%.

“It appears conservatives have had their hearts broken far too many times to sit quietly by and take another beating,” said Constitution Party Communications Director Mary Starrett. “Even the most trusting party loyalists have come to the embarrassing conclusion that it’s time to seek a dissolution, cut their losses and recoup what’s left of their political pride. That is why the Constitution Party has become the third largest party in the country. Disheartened voters leaving both “Big Box” parties are contacting us daily, flooding the political blogosphere with posts about their new home at the Constitution Party and visiting our website(www.constituionparty.com) in unprecedented numbers,” Starrett added.

Time to Move Out

“My view is that the Republican Party is beyond repair” commented author Tom Kovach. One cannot be for border security and vote Republican. The leading proponents of border security within the Republican Party — US Representatives Tom Tancredo and Ron Paul — are being virtually ignored by their own party”, Kovach lamented. Jim Clymer noted: “Now that voters recovering from Battered Voter Syndrome are discovering there is a way out after all, the Republican policy makers will have to realize they have no one to blame but themselves”.

The Constitution Party is the only party that is pro-life, pro-gun, pro-secure borders and pro-limited government.

As a Christian Zionist I can't vote the Constitution Party line....

Why?

They do not support Israel....

In fact, many of that parties members embrace what is called "Replacement Theology".....

Look closely at what Pat Buchanan says.....and you'll get a feel for the Constitution Party's belief system.

I found their position back in 2004 on their party platform (its been deleted on their current platform)....but today, when queried by email (two weeks ago) they will not respond except with the usual verbaige asking for support.

Evangelical Christians - don't be fooled by the appeal of this organization.

Bush 2 may have you Hillary Clinton, because of his policies and procedures and his thumbing his nose at the base who put him in the White House and kept him their in 04.

Notice the correlations: Bush Clinton Bush Clinton. And recall that GW called Bill his new brother (making Hillary his new sister) and BillyJ and George HW are almost inseparable.

Outspending the Clinton adminstration isn't exacty a testimony of fiscal conservativism either, and as of 2006 there were no Democrat majorities to blame.

I saw it coming, too. I 'voted my conscience' and not for #41. Yeah. I knew how it would go down, but was powerless to stop it!

"Texas Congressman Ron Paul-who has a 100% constitutionally-sound voting record"

This is the only [reason] necessary to earn my vote.

A constitutionally sound record should be the exception rather than the rule in candidates.

I can't understand the term 'Christian Zionist,' since zionism is specifically anti-Christ, but neither can I condone Replacement Theology, whih is simply anti-semitism hiding behind a church that has rejected all prophecy on the basis that it advances God's chosen people.

Moving to the LEFT is what has DISGUSTED THAT 82%.

Good point. In terms of government expansion and spending (domestically and abroad), the GOP has moved to the left of many Democrats.

We can only hope that two or more of them will have the courage and strength to make changes in the GOP leadership, or become the core of a truly conservative party. The current GOP is following in the footsteps of their predecessors, the Whigs.

The GOP is owned and operated now by liberals no conservatives need apply. How can one of the most advanced nations in technology and education insist on running the worst candidates the two major parties have to offer?

Politically there isn't a nickle difference between the Bush or Clinton families. Bush unites the DEMs and divides the GOP much like Tennessee's last Republican governor.

A constitutionally sound record should be the exception rather than the rule in candidates.

And until the GOP takes such qualifications for office serious they are not part of the solution.

In the past few years the U.S. has stood directly in the way of Israel dealing with terrorism within it's own borders. Every time their enemy attacks a U.S. State Department arrives just in time to stop Israel from rightfully acting in the own self defense. Now I'd like to know how that makes the GOP their friend. Pushing the Bogus recently invented Palestine nation down Israels throat like the GOP has done for years as well as the DEMs is not being their friend. At this point in time it would be wise to step back and let the apple of GOD's eye deal with their problems rather than stand in their way.

Fact: The Constitution Party opposes the War on Terror under the premise that it is ill-defined.

And indeed it is and so is the war in Iraq. Who had the banner Mission Accomplished flying from a ship?

Fact: The Constitution Party opposes the Patriot Act.

Fine by me I do as well oppose it. I think the nation has more than enough laws to try to make every common man a suspected criminal.

Fact: The Constitution Party opposes the NSA Eavesdropping.

No it supports due process of the law which means sworn warrants.

It seems that the Constitution Party has too many things in common with MoveOn.Org, the NY Times and Code Pink

I know quite a few CP supporters in this forum and none of them not a one including myself supports Code Pink or Move ON. You will not find them burning flags, protesting at hollowed ground such as war memorials or military hospitals etc.

If people actually bothered to read Ron Paul offered Constitutional Solutions which could have prevented the reasons for the war in Iraq. I've said it before and I'll say it again. We were headed to war with Iraq and 9/11 had nothing to do with it. With Afghanistan? Yes with Iraq? No.

Even if the GOP and DEMs had made the formal declaration of war Paul requested and set at that time military mission scope and agenda our troops would have likely been home two years ago.

Not passing the buck, just acknowledging that I was warned how it would turn out. I have learned that 'sending a message' does NOT work. That was what I meant by 'powerless.'
