Clinton resurrects 'vast right-wing conspiracy' on campaign trail

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The "vast, right-wing conspiracy" is back, presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton is warning, using a phrase she once coined to describe partisan plotting.

Once derided for her use of the phrase, Clinton is now trying to turn the imagery to her advantage.

Speaking Tuesday to Democratic municipal officials, the New York senator used the term to hammer Republicans on election irregularities.

She also used the phrase similarly during a campaign appearance over the weekend in New Hampshire.

Clinton was first lady when she famously charged allegations of an affair between her then-president husband Bill Clinton and White House intern Monica Lewinsky were the result of a conservative conspiracy.

As evidence of the affair eventually came to light, the comment was ridiculed. But many Democrats have since insisted that Clinton was correct, pointing to the well-documented efforts by conservative financier Richard Mellon Scaife to fund a network of anti-Clinton investigations.

On Tuesday, she asserted the conspiracy is alive and well, and cited as proof the Election Day 2002 case of phone jamming in New Hampshire, a case in which two Republican operatives pleaded guilty to criminal charges, and a third was convicted.

Sure, Hillary. ~The VRWC and alien autopsies right along with Bigfoot and certain solitary vices cause blindness.

All we need is President Paranoia in control of the Justice Department.

It seems to me that this is a big mistake on her part. It's living in the past, and it reminds everyone of bill and monica. Hardly anyone is going to remember the designated villain of that time, Richard Mellon Scaife, who seems in any case to have repented of his conservative days.

CNN tries to make the best of it, but it's pretty tough sledding for them.

Thanks for the links. It can be frustrating when every news outlet uses a different title for AP stories.

Clinton accused the GOP of a number of other anti-voter actions, including intimidating phone calls during the contentious 2006 congressional elections.

Stupid twit! Didn't she get the Dem memo?

Democrats WON, and according to them, WON BIG!!!!!

Who forgot to tell Saint Hillary?

On Tuesday, she asserted the conspiracy is alive and well, and cited as proof the Election Day 2002 case of phone jamming in New Hampshire,

Funny how nobody ever mentions Dan Rather calling the crucial state of Florida for Al Gore an hour before the polls closed in the western part of the state, disheartening many conservative voters who had yet to go to the polls, or were stuck waiting in long lines. Many turned around and went home, believing Gore had won the presidency.

It was a transparent attempt to throw the election to Al Gore, but Rather never suffered any consequences from it.

The Democrats not only want to inspire fear in order to rule (Global Warming! Bush making world hate us! Worst economy since invention of the coin!), the FEAR, period.

They are a bunch of very scared people, mostly scared that others think other thoughts, hold different ideas, and this country's largest flaw is that it ALLOWS people to hold these "different/wrong" ideas.

So Hillary and her crew, whose party emblem should be Munch's The Scream, promote fear to gain power to conquer the source of their fear--the very individuality we all prize.

She must be stopped, and I will vote for whoever opposes her.

Yes, she's getting horrible advice, or worse, coming up with this herself! I just saw the clip, and she sounds stupid......and I'm trying to be objective.

So how does she characterize the RAT politician relatives in Milwakke convited to REPUB Bus etc. tire slashing so they could not help get people to the polls. Those thugs were convicted as I recall in a state where the vote was exceptionally close.

"What is VRWC? "

It is many things ... It is an acronym. Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy.

Some think it is this guy -- VRWCmember. (Hi, Vastie!)

And it's the mythical creation of the fertile mind of Bill Clinton, brought into amused reality by the many people who want to join.
