I'm a reporter who covers Target for the Star Tribune and the other day, I got a call from someone who said that an employee at the Target store downtown refused to run his bacon through a scanning machine. He was mighty upset, arguing that the cashier had "no right to work as a cashier at Target" if she wasn't prepared to swipe his groceries.

can't do that..they'll sue for discrimination and will continue to push the boundaries until they'll only touch islamic approved foods and by extension only the foods you can buy..dhimmitude is well on it's way unless someone with some brass ones grabs hold of the situation..IMHO

I just don't understand. They want to live like they are in the 7th century. Yet, they drive automobiles, use cell phones, fly (but don't land) airplanes, use semtec and cordite. Go figure.

The precedent is there, if employers want to fire employees who will not handle the merchandise.

This is really odd. First the cabbies at the airport, now the cashiers at Target. If you aren't familiar with what's going on in this area, here's a quick synopsis: the Muslims cab drivers will not transport people with guide dogs, or people with alcohol from the airport. This is the same airport that where the six Imams got kicked off the plane for "praying," and it's the first area to elect a muslim to Congress. Something is going on. I have a feeling this is going to be ground zero for something, I don't know what, but just watch.

The clear and concise way to handle it is to challenge them to take you to court. In the end if all our rights to run a profitable business are taken away, the worst hit organization in our country will be the government - no tax revenue.

No discrimination. You must be able to fulfill the essential functions of your job. If you are a clerk then scanning pork would be an essential part of that job description. Fire her.
