I used the free airwaves for years.
Simply because I watched maybe 30 minutes of TV per week.

"We've never had cable. We didn't have the extra money for it when we got married and we just never watched enough TV later to make it seem like a worthwhile expense."
Before 2009, invest in a large screen HD TV, and a good outdoor antennae.

You would be amazed at the fun things you can do if you can't watch sit and look at the TV.
You might even end up outside, doing stuff! Oh the horrors....

We really don't watch that much either. Major sporting events , The Simpsons, and believe it or not, PBS(which we are members).

So does this mean or little cabin in the middle of the woods that gets 2.5 fuzzy channels on a good day will no longer exist?
Oh well, more family game night and watching Navy Seals for the 1,000,000th time on video.

By 2009...a new, 27" digital TV will probably run $200.

You can request the $40 coupons if you can show you do not subscribe to cable or satellite service? Sounds like discrimination to me. Give me back my $80!!!

"I actually know a Democrat couple that huddle around the Rabbit Ears every night. Together they make about 200k a year as well,it's funny as hell."
I know a conservative Republican family that does the same thing my family!

Thanks for the Link.
So now it appears that it was the Republican Controlled Congress and President Bush who authorized the funding to buy every American a Digital Converter.
I am Shocked, I am just Shocked!!!
Do you happen to know what the next electronic gadget that the government will buy for my household?
Come on President Bush, I really want a Plasma TV! Will you but that for me too?
To: stevio
Yep. I watch some American HotRod type shows.
King of the Hill (where there is not a dang ballgame on)
Some FoodNetwork shows.
Mainly the tube is just on as background noise while I am doing stuff.
I know people that can sit and watch TV for hours on end. What a wasted day...

Where do I sign up for my 52 inch flatscreen HDTV? Perhaps that can be a new Rudy TV Ad.
President Bush bought you a Digital Converter Box. When I am President, I will buy you a 52 inch flatscreen HDTV!!!
Dude, Don't you love Socialism!!!!

I heard on the radio today that they have 1.9 billion set aside. Don't know when.
If it wasn't for the Iraq war, we'd all have free cable and a color tv.

I remember when cable first came out in the `70`s everyone was saying "Oh it will be commercial free TV because you are paying for it! Yippee!! No commercials!!" Now you can`t even watch a station without these freggin` commercials popping up every 2 minutes.

But, technically speaking, if you're in the right location it is quite possible to get digital TV signals with rabbit ears on a digital, ATSC compatible TV - I know many people who do.Actually, rabbit ears, or an updated version for DTV, work great as an indoor antenna. During a test in the Boston area, clear digital TV was received up to 30 or 40 miles away from the transmitter with a small indoor antenna. The big difference is no ghosts, which was a problem with analog TV and rabbit ears.
