Beep. Circle takes the square. The phases of Venus only make sense if Venus is orbiting the Sun closer in than the Earth. Planets orbiting the Sun farther out than the orbit of the Earth will not exhibit phases, as we can only ever see the face pointed toward the Sun.
I must admit it is strange having to explain this to you. It's almost like talking to someone from the Middle Ages.
Well, we CAN, but NOT the complete phases.
Consider... Mars SUN Earth
As we look toward Mars, there would be a sliver of dark on the right side

Sorry Junior. All it means is that Venus is closer to the Sun than the Earth and that's not a point I dispute. It means absolutely nothing wrt what is orbiting what. That is Einstein and Hoyle's point.
And you are wrong about planets orbiting farther out than earth not exhibiting phases. They do. Just not as much as the inner planets.

I must admit that it is completely expected having to explain this to you. It's like talking to someone whose strawman understanding of the issue is from the Middle Ages.
Having thoroughly embarassed yourself with your ignorance, why don't you go study the subject a little before you embarass yourself any further.
