Thank you, dutchess, and I'm excited for you that your snow has melted and you're having a warm day! Just be careful when you get out and dig in your flower beds! (When does poison oak first appear?) :)

Afternoon, y'all.

The subject of getting a new entertainment center arose recently but we decided against it. I provide way too much entertainment around here.

Mrsd couldn't stop laughing when I called and told her about my (mis)adventure.

Think I'll take Logan out this afternoon to play ball. He can do the hitting and I'll play in the outfield.

Oh, and Billie, I've got another story to tell. Been mulling how to put it all together in print form.

And who would you be rooting for?

Could it be the Rangers?

He is awesome and always gives me a giggle!

It's a very good story here, too!

Whoa, it took me a while to see the spinning ball this time as the Rangers. I think what I like about baseball is that it is so laid back and slow. The older I get the more I like it.

Do you watch golf, too? A sister-in-law says it relaxes her.

Sometime. My niece and her husband and 3 children play. We do watch it on TV sometimes. I don't play.

Don Drysdale pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers, dutchess!! He later became a radio announcer for the team, but died rather young of a heart attack.

I am the most baseball-lovingest person you could imagine and here I am after the lights are out and everyone has gone to bed. Glanced at my pings in midst of work today but no time to post. My kitty's not feeling well; I'm worried... we need prayers.

As a young girl, I read many baseball bios of the greats -- The Babe, Lou Gehrig, Ty Cobb, Ted Williams, Sadaharu Oh -- name some more for me, I read them all. Did I mention I love America's pastime? Love it.

Still as a young girl, I cheered for the (Pacific League) Hollywood Stars. A team member lived in our apartment house with his wife for awhile. He gave me one of his slightly cracked bats. I kept it for a long time. Oh, btw, I really love America's pastime.

Finally, a major league team came to town, the Brooklyn Dodgers became the Los Angeles Dodgers. No hurt feelings, right? (Wrong, some have never forgotten.) But I have never looked back, and bleed true blue. I was there to watch Sandy Koufax pitch, John Roseboro catch, Maury Wills steal bases, the "baseball brawls" between the Dodgers and the Cincy Reds... all while consuming stomach-churning combinations of peanuts, hot dogs, popcorn, etc., an important part of the ritual.

I love baseball... heehee.

Since you're all asleep already, I'll just continue. Fast forward to the era of Mike Marshall, Mariano Duncan and our beloved Freddy. Couldn't stand Tommy Lasorda but suffered him for the sake of the game. When it comes down to it, I'll even stop to watch a baseball game being played in a local park by weekend amateurs, I love the game so much. Doesn't matter what league, it's baseball, it has a lore, a tradition, a magic all its own... nothing like it.

And Vin Scully is still going strong, announcing Dodger games, the best baseball announcer of all time, bar none... and there have been some good ones.

I really have to stop now, as I could go on and on. There are many wonderful books re baseball and I've read many of them: Roger Angell, Roger Kahn, Jim Bouton. Well, as Casey Stengel said, "You could look it up."

Baseball, I love you.
