Count-down to MA Governor's Resignation
Fox 25 - Boston | 3/12/07

Posted on 03/12/2007 2:43:08 PM PDT by pabianice

Ten weeks into a disastrously bad first term as Massachusetts' governor, Deval Patrick announced today that he has to cut-back on his workload because of the burden placed on him and his family. So reports Fox.

Perhaps Patrick will become the first telecommuting governor, staying at his $8 mansion and working via laptop. His reign has certainly been an eyeful. As President Clinton's Assistant Attorney General For Racial Quotas and Slavery Reparations, Patrick apparently had enjoyed a much more relaxed lifestyle than that of the governor of a state so polarized and driven half insane by Liberal politics. His proflagate spending of tax money on his new car, office, and furniture, followed by his unlawful attempt to help an old crony in trouble, has led to this just ten weeks into his first term.

I believe the count-down to his resignation is on, to be capped by his nasty, vindictive resignation due to "oppression by conservatives." Once gone, Lt. Gov. Tim Murray of Worcester will become governor. I'll bet Tim never dreamed he'd move from Mayor of Worcester to state governor in less than 90 days.

You are correct. In MA, incompetent politicians don't retire, they just transfer to the MassPike Authority or MassPort.

Murray steps into spotlight as Patrick curtails schedule

By Associated Press
Monday, March 12, 2007 - Updated: 03:23 PM EST

BOSTON - When Gov. Deval Patrick faced criticism for calling a bank on behalf of a mortgage lender upon whose board he used to serve, Lt. Gov. Tim Murray told reporters there was nothing wrong because the governor had no financial interest in the prospective deal.
An hour later, Patrick apologized, leaving Murray backpedaling.
Such is the life of the state’s No. 2 executive, who in an ideal world offers unconditional love to the governor, and whose office usually is best known for its lack of prominence. Its major duty is chairing the Governor’s Council, which reviews judicial nominations.

Now, with Patrick curtailing his public appearances on nights and weekends as his wife is treated for exhaustion and depression, Murray is poised to claim a larger share of the spotlight on behalf of a new and struggling administration _ a task that should fall easily to a natural politician, despite his relative youth.
”I remember watching him and his brothers play Little League,” said Konstantina Lukes, a Republican who often clashed with Murray on the Worcester City Council and has replaced him as the city’s mayor. ”I said to my husband, ’Keep your eyes on those kids; they’re going to be our next leaders.”’
Lukes describes Murray, 38, as a practiced inside player, someone adept at building support in the shadows before stepping into public with a polished and well-backed plan.
On one occasion, it was a pay raise for certain city officials that still rankles Lukes; in other instances, he successfully pushed for more commuter rail access between Worcester and Boston, while helping bring more restaurants downtown.
”He gets the job done, and probably with some of the missteps the governor has taken, it would have been good for the governor to use some of the tried-and-true methods that the lieutenant governor has used,” Lukes said.
Murray declined to comment Monday, but on Sunday said he and others would help carry some of Patrick’s responsibilities.

Democrats don't resign from office.

He will simply turn his duties over to some lackey.

If the lackey screws up, it's not his incompetence.

Well, that's the last option. But in Mass., the first, and most common option, is that they get re-elected.

...vindictive resignation due to "oppression by conservatives."

What conservatives? In Massachusetts, there must be about 42 conservatives in the whole state.

Patrick isn't going to resign under pressure. He'll take a cabinet position in a Rat administration (God help us), or appoint himself senator if Kennedy's heart vapor locks in the next four years.

Another item for Coupe Deval's resume:

BOSTON - Gov. Deval Patrick received more than $12,500 in campaign contributions last year from employees of two firms working on the development of a mammoth Cambridge project that would benefit from a bill recently filed by the governor.

As I've stated before,we once had a statewide convention for us conservatives here in Massholechusetts and we held it in phone booth !!!

Here's a phenomenom for you. Last election, it was reported that 85% of voters outside Mass's cities voted Republican!

Just like most other states, the commies are in the cities.

That would be wonderful, but you well know that around here, they don't count balls and strikes on Dems. At best Gov. Plastic makes a few more missteps and becomes powerless to push his grand designs through the legislature (while the legislature runs the state, but that couldn't be worse than Celluci/Swift). At worst we endure him till the end of his term or till BFT croaks, at which time his sorry ass is promoted to the U.S. Senate.

Then again, the lovely but exhausted Mrs. Plastic is of primary importance, and the guy has the world's thinnest skin...

I don't think he'll ever resign....he doesn't HAVE to and will never HAVE to.

Coupe De-Val is of the uber-protected class.

a) He's for all intents and purposes....a Clinton.
b) He's a Democrat.
c) He's black.

Triple wrapped protection.

The problem there is that, Mass being so small, most of the state is cities: Boston & Surrounds, Worcester, Lowell, Springfield, Northampton (the whole pioneer valley, really), Greenfield, the Cape, Marblehead; and that 15% of non-urban voters is pretty much all of Berkshire County. The rest of conservatives live in places like Athol, Charlemont, Palmer, etc, or even smaller towns.

Devil Patrick will never resign, because no one with any influence in MA will demand he do so. Democrats in MA don't have to apologize or even be defensive about the things they do. They just ignore any complaints, because they usually only come from the Herald or Howie Carr, and everyone knows they're just right wing bomb throwers! ;o)
