> God forbid *you* ever find yourself in Terri's position. :*(

The circus that was Terri Schiavo's last days motivated me to put my wishes in a living will, partially to ensure that my death could never, never, never become such a hideous spectacle.

No such thing as 'separation of church and state'--but I think I understand where you are coming from now...

Government should most DEFINITELY get involved in a "he said she said family dispute" when the desired result of "he" is the terminal starvation and dehydration of "she" without a shred of evidence to go on other than the assertion by "he" that "she" wanted it that way.

There was so much other evidence that was ignored (on purpose?) by the infamous Judge Greer, but we won't rehash all that. It's available for your edification on hundreds of FR threads, with some threads running to thousands of posts.

Take your time and read all about a certain Michael Schiavo and his successful crusade to get the state of Florida to kill his disabled wife Terri in one of the cruelest ways imaginable.

Roe V Wade is a states rights issue.

Silly me, and here I thought it was a US Supreme Court decison dealing with "privacy."

"The two of us became one flesh"

Well in this case, the three of them must have been 'one flesh' then, since he was living with and copulating with another woman.

It is beyond me to understand how this is a "smaller government" issue. Moral absolutes have to come first; allowing that woman's estranged husband to kill her for the money is certainly not small government, it's illegitimate government

HEAR HEAR!

I'll pass on that, but it's a long way from there to Congress demonstrating their impotent idiocy by passing something very close to a bill of attainder in midnight session.

The term I remember hearing in the media was "extraordinary measures." If they could have passed a stupid one line law in the FL legislature, perhaps...

why didn't the protesters just go to the Florida legislature and have feeding tubes taken off the default list of "life support equipment"?

I do not know that feeding tubes are so defined. Do you know that?

I support Mitt for the presidency, but he is very wrong here. It sounds like he doesn't under this case or its chronology.

That question was asked back during our debate(s) on the issue. Best I can recall is that there were insufficient votes to get such a bill out of a committee.

We have had a similar problem in Virginia with a state Senator who's one of those on again/off again Christian types ~ John Chichester ~ combining seniority with running as a Republican he was able to tie up all beneficial human rights legislation for years. We believe he's going to retire soon, or die ~ which ever comes first is OK by everyone.

Florida may have the same problem, and those things can be intractible unless you can convince somebody in the legislature to commit mayhem or something.

Oh, you have the revised Constitution that has that infamous "separation of church and state" thing. And probably rewords the Bill of Rights to (I) The Right to Medicaid (II) The Right to Title III Funds (V) The Right to Use Roman Numeral IV,
(VI) The Right of Democrats to use words like faggot and die-die-die-Cheney (VXII) The Right of Idiots, Liberals, Marxists to hold all tenured positions in Universities, etc.

Romney and Bush are the poster boys for weak executives who are so brainwashed by the judicial supremacist myth that they will ignore their oath to uphold the constitution and let out-of-control judges destroy our most basic societal standards and even the very right to live of citizens.

I totally agree with the above statement.

And they won't, ever again.

Or until the next time, whichever comes first.
