Ted Koppel just said that a pullout from Iraq could lead to a regional war and that we cannot afford to have that happen.
Timmy quickly moves to another topic...LOL...on to how Bush said he wouldn't talk to those people (pounding his desk for emphasis) and Bechloss agrees he is now doing what the Surrender Group advised.
Yes...alas the Dems are helping get Prs. Bush in trouble with his own people.
I was pinged to the thread about these "talks" between Khalilizad and the Iranians...and, there are some unhappy Freepers.
I can understand...it sounds like Pres. Bush is going back on one of his more forceful statements...that he won't negotiate with Iran or Syria.
I think Zalmay tried his best to tell Russert that the talks were much LESS substantive that Timmy is implying..but, the damage is done, I am afraid.
Throughout this extended roundtable on MTP (3/4 of the show) Ted has made several comments along these lines, pointing out that the "ill treatment" of vets in VA hospitals has happened after every war, that the Islamists have been waging war on us for 24 years and we've just now started to notice, etc. And each time he says something like that Timmah has simply dropped the topic and moved to a different question and a different (and more on script) talking head.
Ted's special on Discovery tonight, Our Children's Children's War, could be real interesting. I found a bit more background (and spin) in the Washington Post review of the show.
