It all comes down to politics which is hard dirty game and Libby knew this all to well when he was appointed as the VP's chief of staff.

However loyal the White House are, can or should be to Libby they also have 2008 elections to think of and the Republican Party will not want anything that a liberal media can use against any Republican. In the MSM a Republican is a Republican.

Thats a good point snugs, but in reality it doesn't matter. As we all know.....MSM will just make up stuff to go after republicans, it doesn't have to be true, they just have to be in unison. They do it all the time. I don't think Bush should pardon Libby just yet, I think he should wait until the next phase and see what happens.

The whole trial was a fiasco...with the judge letting on the ex-WAPO reporter who personally two or three of the prosecutor's witnesses, including the star witness. That was a travesty and says to me Judge Walton was not seeking a fair trial...a bold statement I make only from my legal ignorant position. But Judge Walton made so very big mistakes in what to allow and what not to allow in for evidence.

In fact, Fred Thompson made that case the other day, not today on FNS, but he did state earlier that Walton had not been fair in his decisions. Thompson was right then, and he is right now to say the whole thing was a travesty; a poticial witch hunt by an over zealous prosecutor.
