IMHO politically I do not think a pardon would be expedient until after the 2008 elections as this may not play favorably with the GOP think how the media would report it.
So I would fully expect if the President is going to pardon Libby it will be after the 2008 election cycle or right at the end of his Presidency. The appeals etc will probably keep Libby out of jail until then anyway.

..The appeals etc will probably keep Libby out of jail until then anyway.I hope you're right about this but I have a sneaky suspicion, due to political pressure from the left, the sentencing will include the requirement of Libby to immediately begin serving his sentence. This would in effect "require" President Bush to put up or shut up.
Just my weird way of thinking the Democrats are trying every devious way imaginable to make Pres Bush, and by association the Republicans look badly.
