Democratic strategist Bob Beckel admitted, in an interview on Fox News, that Fred Thompson for president would be their worst nightmare. Sounds good to me!

Bob Beckel's worst nightmare was probably his wife when hooker Tiffany was trying to blackmail him for 25 grand.

DFU SONG: Beckel Saw Her Standing There (Beckel saw her posing there) 9-1-02
DFU SONG PARODIES | 8-2002 | Lyrics, Doug from Upland

MIDI - SAW HER STANDING THERE

Well, she was there on my screen…you guys know just what I mean
I knew that I must get some of that for me
Oh, what a great day for porn surfing…whooo…when I clicked on Tiffany

There was no delay…she arrived right away
And I said to her, "Yes, I like what I see"

Oh, what a great day for porn surfing…whooo…when I clicked on Tiffany

When she crossed the room…little Bob went boom
And I thought that I would explo-o-o-o-de

It's two hours of fun…but I'd only just begun
And I asked her if she would re-schedule me

Oh, what a great day for porn surfing…whooo…when I clicked on Tiffany

(musical break)

When she crossed the room…little Bob went boom
And I thought that I would explo-o-o-o-de

It's two hours of fun…but I'd only just begun
And I asked her if she would re-schedule me

Oh, what a great day for porn surfing…whooo…when I clicked on Tiffany

Oh, when I clicked on Tiffany…oh, when I clicked on Tiffany

Very strange for a Democrat strategist to say a Republican is their worst nightmare. They must want him to run.

Very strange for a Giuliani supporter to say that on a Thompson thread. They must NOT want him to run.

My Right to Life mailings have been pushing Brownback, but I'm afraid he's a loser, who lost all his credibility when he joined the Democrats in bashing Bush over the war.

Brownback's toast. Not just for bashing the war, but for supporting amnesty for criminaliens and filing a bill last week to apologize to the Indians (with a feather.)

Look, everybody knows McCain's star is fading. He ain't going to get the nomination, no way, no how. Fred has given him a good head start, a good chance to take the flag and he hasn't done it. There's no obligation to support a loser for president even if you're friends. If that puts a strain on the friendship, who's fault is that? Only one guy gets to be president. McCain might make a good Cheney-style Veep. A pleasant semi-retirement. I like having a caretaker in there rather than a protege.

It's looking more and more as though you may very well be right; unless the Clinton War Room can dig up a whole LOT of dirt and make it stick, or Hillary and Obama split the votes and Richardson get the nomination by default.

A small reality check here. I hesitate to do this prior to tomorrow's FOX interview, but:

Try to remember, next Presidential is unique in many ways. First time since 1952 we have had a Presidential without an incumbent Pres or VP on the ballot, and that if one does not count Truman's brief flirtation with a second term. Incumbents of course, do not always win (Ford, Carter, Bush the First) but they severely limit fundraising by prospective candidates.

We already have twenty years of a two family dynastic hold on the Presidency, Hillary's prospect of making that 28 years only adds to her "hard negatives" which run between 35-38%. In polling, a hard negative is an "I will never vote for X" response. One third of likely voters is a heck of a speed bump for anyone running for any office.

Forget Gore, who by the way, is the Senator Thompson replaced, and who could not carry his own state in his Presidential bid. Gore can split the early money, may be holding out to jump in after Hillarious and Osama Bin Barack cut each other up, but he is IMHO, unelectable.

The other unique feature of this election is the early start. Bush still has 21 months+, even with the compacted early primaries, there is plenty of time for jokers to jump out of the deck. Thompson has plenty of time to play it close to the vest and stay with his unusually high name recognition career in TV and radio. As the early sprinters collapse, that name recognition becomes a $100 million jump start should he "change his mind".

Could be wrong, but I look to Sunday's interview to be a presentation of his credentials accompanied by some lively tap-dancing denial of his intent to run, AT THIS TIME.

I agree. The last two elections have been won in the small states. This next one will be won in the urban areas.

areas.

WORSE. There's a photo out there of Fred during Watergate...wearing a plaid polyester suit.

Can't be any worse than this.

[... Yes, you are right....Newt would be a good president... possibly. But his baggage is that the dems and the left hate him for the contract and for what he did to the Bubbas. They will crucify him. He's better at trying to keep the party straight on task. ..]

I can't disagree with most of that.. however Newt is the only one that can assemble the fractured republican party... The ONLY one.. Bush has fractured it pretty badly.. not only about immigration either.. but about many other things..

Sandy Burgular has most of "us" scratching our heads.. Like what has Hitlery got on Bush jr.. or even Bush Sr?.. Must be something.. He isn't that stupid to just let that go..

Thompson, if he does run, can't use campaign contributions to buy out his T.V. contract and yes, there probably ARE all kinds of stipulations in his contract, that none of know about.

He could run a parallel legal defense fund, which would probably draw on the same pool of donors and wouldn't have FEC restrictions.
