Fred Thompson a good TV President..
You sound like the meatheads who said the same thing about Reagan: Hollywood president - B actor - empty suit---ad nauseum
Yes, you are right....Newt would be a good president...possibly. But his baggage is that the dems and the left hate him for the contract and for what he did to the Bubbas. They will crucify him. He's better at trying to keep the party straight on task.

Whether we like it or not we live in a media age...and Thompson is a media insider who can exploit it.
He can get his message across and they won't know what hit them.

I truly believe that the reason Fred is even being discussed is because McCain's campaign is tanking and he and his staff know it. Fred jumping in allows McCain to bow out without losing face...

LOL, but why would the leftist Bob Beckel tip off the Democrats' hand in public? Republicans are not kids (well, maybe some act that way, LOL) but it's like he is talking to kids... "oh, Fred is our worst nightmare, so you guys make sure to vote for him in the primaries, because we are sooooo afraid of him." He thinks that by saying this the GOP will think... "oh yea, look Bob is afraid of Fred so let's make sure he wins."
Or is it what Bob wants because he thinks Hillary will have a better chance of beating Fred than of beating Rudy. Otherwise, why would a guy like Beckel say that?

At least he has held a few jobs outside of gubment.
If he throws his hat in the ring I will have to take him seriously.
Until he does this is just mind-candy.

Thompson, if he does run, can't use campaign contributions to buy out his T.V. contract and yes, there probably ARE all kinds of stipulations in his contract, that none of know about.

Great job posting this Howlin.
Above referenced are the most important jobs he's held. He can communicate with the average down home folks and the people who have risen above those jobs but continue to respect that work ethic.
This is the man people! Can we get this candidate on the Presidential track for 08?

They may have "spies"; however, try to not get too tinfoily.
To: StoneWall Brigade
Too damned much tinfoil there. It was one thing, to get raw files, when one is occupying the White House, but quite another for a junior Senator!
To: Victoria Delsoul
Beckel is awful and a pretty slow witted guy. I can't see why the dems would be particularly afraid of Fred in a national election. This remark he made does indeed smell. :-)

That makes no sense. He wasn't even married to the mother of his daughter when she passed away as an adult in 2002.
He had been married to his current wife only a few months.

He is indeed impressive. But when the stuff about the kiss from the gay roomate, the photos in drag and nylons, the affair; and Donna Hanover sure to be holding her tongue until Feb 2008 for maximum destructive effect--Rudy has some huge hurdles that are likely insurmountable.
Once again, dressing for a fund raiser or TV show is considered funny. Are you sure that Fred has never worn heels and lipstick for some role in his acting career? Rudy's marital troubles were already front-page news. Are you sure that Fred has led an angelic life? As for Donna Hannover, she's always been a loud-mouth trying to grab headlines. A bit of a turn-off, using the angry ex-wife to trounce the candidate. Bubba was considered even more charming with every woman scandal.
The kissing thing really has me laughing hysterically. Some people kiss as a greeting for "hello," "goodbye," "good night," and "good morning." If I met you tomorrow, chances are I'd kiss you. Don't you think Fred, as a Hollywood guy, has had numerous gay friends and maybe kissed them as a sign of affection?
I have had gay friends, shared apts with gays, worked closely with gays, traveled with gays and I have hugged and kissed them. And I am as conservative and Catholic as they come.
If Fred looks like a winner, fabulous--he has my support. But what happens if he--horrors! has one or more of the Rudy "defects?" Will he be thrown under the FReeper bus, too?

Bob Beckel is a fat, whore mongering, lying tub a' crap. If he says something on TV, he's spinning it. That's what he does for a living.
Did I mention that he's a fat, whore mongering, lying tub a' crap?

Beckel smells. I change the channel every time Hannity &Colmes has either him or Kirstin Powers on as 'Democratic Strategists.' "The Braintrust," I call them!

Oh, yeah. Giuliani has really pulled the GOP together. You are totally wrong. Thompson is the one who would unify the party.
