I used the blue laws as an example of people voting in laws because of their religious beliefs.
There are some small Christian sects in this country that have very different views on how you and I should run our life. Would you like any of them making laws that you had to live under?
Would you like Muslims to gain the majority in an area of this country and pass laws that all had to follow? No selling or possession of Pork products in your county or state perhaps? Hindus? Buddhists?

Small Christian sects are, by definition...small.
Hardly an apt comparison to a faith that preaches executing dissenters as a doctrinal imperative.
